VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Sunrise Patch)Aug 2025

Had a fantastic stay on the sunrise patch with my daughter. It was amazing, horse riding school, live music on the Saturday, a climbing frame and trampoline, not to mention the cafe with handmade treats, sausage rolls and great coffee. Views were incredible and not far from Portland Bill. Would defo visit again.

Absolutely stunning

Motorhome - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Aug 2025

I absolutely love this campsite and its location makes it extra special. Charlotte, who owns the site, is always helpful and her staff are all great too. I am a new motorhomer and have been getting to grips with what I need and don't need and on the 2 occasions I've stayed, I've loved it. Being in Portland, it does get windy but with the right windbreak and pitch you will be fine. There is always the option to go to the café for a lovely coffee, home made cake or a breakfast. Only downside is the portaloos but they were clean and at busy times the showers are busy too. With that being said the area is lovely and picturesque with loads of walks directly from the site and very close to attractions if you have kids. Can't wait to come back.

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Sunrise Patch)Aug 2025

Location for views was excellent. If you want to see amazing sunrises and sunsets then this site is perfect. Walks directly from site are beautiful, although if you have dogs they need to be kept on leads due to proximity to cliff edges. We arrived on a Tuesday and although it was school holiday, site wasn't too busy. Lots of nice wide open spaces and plenty of room around each unit which is what we like on sites where you pick your own pitch. Unfortunately, by the Friday evening it was rammed with most campers not bothered about giving other campers space. Felt like being at a festival site and a bit claustrophobic. Thankfully we have our own toilet on board so didn't have to use the portacabin toilets which weren't pleasant at all. Be warned no chemical disposal point anywhere on site if you have your own loo. Showers provided were better and loved the free electric points for phones, hairdryers etc. The hubs had a sauna and said it was lovely. Drive up to the site past the stables looks tired, messy and a bit shabby. All told enjoyed our stay but slightly marred by the last night experience of far too many people all on top of each other. Appreciate this is advertised as wild camping but feel a chemical disposal is a must and perhaps not take so many bookings so everyone can enjoy a "wild" experience rather than all being on top of each other.

A relaxing break

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Sweet Hill Pasture)Aug 2025

Great location for no frills camping stay! If you like walking this is a great place to stay, with the coastal walks either side of the site. Staff were very friendly and helpful when checking in.

Lovely location but facilities not great

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Sammy's Paddock)Jul 2025

The campsite is located in the very picturesque spot. The coastline path sits just outside the gates a perfect spot for sunset watching. The field with the electric hook-ups is the furthest from the sea views but nice and spacious. The shower block was clean with nice hot water. However, the washing-up area has only cold water and there are only 4 sinks where people brush their teeth as well as wash hands after using portable toilets, so not ideal. The portable toilets are not ideal too.

Nice play but a few things could be sorted

Motorhome - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Jul 2025

The site was located in a lovely part of the UK with easy walking access to the coastline. The site itself where the campers are was clean tidy and maintained. The area to reception is in the middle of a horse yard, so was frequently dodging mess and sometimes the smell. The toilets are portaloos and were slightly cleaner at times than those at a festival site. The showers were okay, I've never had to pay extra on a site before for hot water (£1 for 3 mins) but the water was very hot. I would possibly stay here again, if the site was to build some sort of toilet facility block. I wasn't keen on the toilet cleaning lorry coming very early on the days he did which caused some people to wake up earlier than usual. There was a few live bands bought in on the weekend we was there, and a few selection of alcoholic drinks. The people who worked on the farm, and as part of the campsite were very friendly and polite, which was nice.

Amazing views, poor loos

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Sammy's Paddock)Jul 2025

Knew this would be basic, "nearly wild" but the loos, portacabins were horrible. We were there for 3 nights but didn't seen them cleaned once? £40 a night is very steep for no proper loos, shower was ok but £1 for 4 mins, been camping for the last 2 weeks and every site was 20p or 50p. It just adds to the price of the stay, apart from that, the views were amazing and near good walks and Portland Bill.

Beautiful setting, basic but ample facilities

Trailer Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Sunrise Patch)Jul 2025

First impressions of Portland were that it is a beautiful place. However, there are certain buildings which bring the place down. The businesses parks in particular are a blot on the landscape. Despite this there are some amazing coastal formations and features, we had some lovely walks exploring the cliffs. The campsite was clean, staff on site really helpful and friendly, the hot showers were worth paying for. The compost toilets were not available so portaloos were in place. These were fine however, we got woken up at 7.30am one morning whilst a really noisy truck came to jet wash them. We would recommend for young families and couples.

Nice place!

Trailer Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Jul 2025

Very nice place and island! Simple but with a great view! Personality i would hide al the construction materials with a fence. It was a bit of a junkyard. People were lovely and the camping has a good vibe.

Best weekend away for the whole family

What a lovely place to stay. Super friendly staff. Loads of room to camp. Showers. Excellent. Had a massage on site from the lovely Michala. The best massage. Great value. Close to local pub 10min walk. Great sunsets and the rest your have to work out for yourself. I'm definitely coming back.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Jul 2025

Stayed 4 nights at this lovely little campsite. Very clean, with staff who cannot do enough for you. Showers are chargeable, which for the price I paid (I have been at other campsites where hot showers are included) it's not the best, and they aren't that great when you use them so bare that in mind. If you have a horse mad little one then is is a brilliant place for you, waking up and seeing horses in the field next to you made my nieces dream come true! There aren't enough bins on the site (only one by the main entry) which can be quite full so not ideal. Not located by a beach! There is a coastal path but no access to the beach itself, even if it was, it's full of pebbles. We were camping next to the yurts which had children from a scout or school which is fine, not when it's 6.30 in the morning and they are shouting across the field, or stood by your tent in the afternoon and swearing, looking into your tent and invading the privacy. Mentioned to the staff with the children, but was completely ignored. However, apart from this, we had a very pleasant week. Would I return again? Probably not as I could get more facilities for the same price elsewhere but I don't regret staying. Oh, and if you have slight concerns about your tent in windy conditions, it won't stand here. We only had 40mph gusts but being right by the coast meant it hit the tent pretty hard, and at times, was doubtful it would stay up. All in all, a great little site. Well looked after and the staff were absolutely amazing and very friendly.

Great campsite

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Sunrise Patch)Jul 2025

What a beautiful, peaceful spot. easy going atmosphere, the most stunning views, a nice café (try the mushroom brew and the avo-go-go), basic but clean facilities (electric outlets that can be used for charging phones at the shower block and the café, cold showers, 3 minute hot showers with a 1 pound token). Shop and pub in the village at walking distance. Same for Porland Bill. As an extra bonus: you can get an on-site massage by Michala. Therapies in the sun, with a cooling breeze, from the golden hands of a warm-hearted lady, surrounded by vivid colours and nature sounds ... Highly recommend, both the campsite and the massage

The best location with stunning views!

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Jul 2025

Delightful setting and location with lots of space. Showers were fine (they sell you one token for 3 minutes of hot water so buy plenty). The only negatives for me were that there was not even one single tap for hot water for washing up on the entire site and even more notably, the loos are just portaloo cabins dotted around which were hideous and stinking. I'm talking day 3 of a festival type of thing. Truly appalling to the point you'd make yourself ill holding it in rather than use one even for a quick wee. I'm saying that as a veteran of festivals for decades. I'd really love to recommend the site but for families with young children or for those with a sensitive disposition, I'd advise against it.

Beautiful setting, terrible loos

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Jun 2025

Unfortunately, the toilets really let this lovely site down. Advertised as compost loos but they were portaloos which were not cleaned daily and absolutely stank. We were there 4 nights and they were only cleaned on our last morning. The liquid in the flush smelt really old, I have used portaloos many times over the years and they don't need to be disgusting. That would prevent me recommending or revisiting.

Site's response

Hi Rosemary, thank you for your review. We're really pleased you enjoyed the setting here at Sweet Hill Farm. We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with the toilet facilities. We have tried to explain to all guests checking in that, due to a breakdown with our tractor, we were unable to return the compost toilets to the field as we usually would. As a temporary measure, we've had to rely on portaloos instead. These are emptied twice a week and cleaned and checked regularly, so we're very sorry this wasn't your experience — and we'll be reviewing our cleaning schedule to ensure it doesn't happen again. We completely understand that facilities are important, and we're currently submitting a planning application for a purpose-built toilet block to accompany our lovely showers for next season. We're a small, family-run site and continually working to improve while staying as low-impact and wild as possible. Thank you again for your feedback, Charlotte - Sweet Hill Farm.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Jun 2025

The campsite is almost wild camping so if you are expecting luxury toilets then don't come here. Porta loos, showers and water are provided on site as well as electric hook up which was the icing on the cake. A big area to pitch our tent and can park next to it. There is a cafe, but we only used it for some drinks. Saturday night was a bonus as live bands were playing and the atmosphere was great. We made some new friends. The staff are really helpful, the area so lovely and a great base to explore the rest of the Jurassic Coast. We had a great stay and would definitely stay again. Thank you, Alina & Steve

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)May 2025

Great place with stunning views and close enough to shops/pubs/restaurant that it’s within a 10-15min walk. Entertainment on Saturday night was a nice touch. We also tried the spa facilities which Dan runs and he was very tentative.

I’d come back

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Apr 2025

This is a nearly wild site and is just that. Fresh drinking water and hot showers are the only main amenities. (As advertised). Showers were lovely and hot, and clean! It's in a stunning location, sea views all around. Pitches were great, plenty of room. Fire pits very reasonable to hire, with wood etc available. Direct access to stunning coastal walks, lighthouse, horse riding. We had a fab stay.
