About the site

Spread across approximately five acres of level ground with stunning views towards Portland Bill and the Dorset coastline, camping here is a treat. Keeping things refreshingly simple, with minimal facilities leaving as little impact on the land as possible. All pitches are on grass and provide an almost wild camping experience for tents and small campervans, with sunrise, sunsets, and stargazing aplenty on the shared camping field. Please bring own camping equipment. Just a short walk will take you to the cliff edge, the perfect sunset watching spot over beautiful blue waters. You'll also find the site is home to plenty of wildlife including owls and kestrels, and there's no light pollution here too - ideal for nights under a starry sky. In peak season and holidays, enjoy the daily specials from the onsite food canteen! Dogs welcome at an additional cost and the site own a horse riding school too, with bookable riding lessons.

A note from the site themselves...

We set up our site to diversify the land after hosting a group of scouts. They made a compost toilet and had so much fun, that we thought we should share our space with everyone!

One of the reasons we love what we do is that we get to meet so many people from all over. Guests love the location and proximity to the coast, whilst also relaxing onsite under the stars.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Sunrise Patch)Aug 2025

Had a fantastic stay on the sunrise patch with my daughter. It was amazing, horse riding school, live music on the Saturday, a climbing frame and trampoline, not to mention the cafe with handmade treats, sausage rolls and great coffee. Views were incredible and not far from Portland Bill. Would defo visit again.

Absolutely stunning

Motorhome - Electric Grass Pitches (Mollie's Meadow)Aug 2025

I absolutely love this campsite and its location makes it extra special. Charlotte, who owns the site, is always helpful and her staff are all great too. I am a new motorhomer and have been getting to grips with what I need and don't need and on the 2 occasions I've stayed, I've loved it. Being in Portland, it does get windy but with the right windbreak and pitch you will be fine. There is always the option to go to the café for a lovely coffee, home made cake or a breakfast. Only downside is the portaloos but they were clean and at busy times the showers are busy too. With that being said the area is lovely and picturesque with loads of walks directly from the site and very close to attractions if you have kids. Can't wait to come back.

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Sunrise Patch)Aug 2025

Location for views was excellent. If you want to see amazing sunrises and sunsets then this site is perfect. Walks directly from site are beautiful, although if you have dogs they need to be kept on leads due to proximity to cliff edges. We arrived on a Tuesday and although it was school holiday, site wasn't too busy. Lots of nice wide open spaces and plenty of room around each unit which is what we like on sites where you pick your own pitch. Unfortunately, by the Friday evening it was rammed with most campers not bothered about giving other campers space. Felt like being at a festival site and a bit claustrophobic. Thankfully we have our own toilet on board so didn't have to use the portacabin toilets which weren't pleasant at all. Be warned no chemical disposal point anywhere on site if you have your own loo. Showers provided were better and loved the free electric points for phones, hairdryers etc. The hubs had a sauna and said it was lovely. Drive up to the site past the stables looks tired, messy and a bit shabby. All told enjoyed our stay but slightly marred by the last night experience of far too many people all on top of each other. Appreciate this is advertised as wild camping but feel a chemical disposal is a must and perhaps not take so many bookings so everyone can enjoy a "wild" experience rather than all being on top of each other.
