Things to do in Looe
Beach lovers and wildlife spotters alike are spoilt for choice on a trip to the stunning Cornish fishing town of Looe, and the natural coastline offers plenty of exploring.
The beaches at East Looe and West Looe are equally perfect for a stroll, to build sandcastles, or for a dip in the water. Check out the locals in action at the harbour, and enjoy the mix of fine restaurants serving up the catch of the day. There is a mix of pubs too for those wanting to relax with a few drinks after a long days’ sightseeing.
The Old Guildhall Museum and Goal offers an insight into local history, while the town centre has a mix of chic gift shops to check out.
Walkers are spoilt for choice with a variety of great walks to enjoy in the area such as the Looe to Polperro walk, which is around four miles in length and provides wonderful coastal views.
Those with little ones (and plenty of adults too no doubt!) will enjoy the Wild Futures' Monkey Sanctuary, where visitors are treated to a variety of monkeys to see, as well as a family of lesser horseshoe bats.
Wildlife lovers will also enjoy a trip to Looe Island Nature Reserve. The island, also known as St George's Island, can be reached by organised boat trips and is a lovely spot to explore on foot. In addition to a variety of habitats, you should spot seabirds, butterflies and grey seals - a fabulous family day out.
A visit to Paint a Pot is a fun day out for families looking to get creative together - especially if the weather isn’t playing fair. Choose to paint your very own designs onto pre made pottery and take your masterpiece home as a Looe memento.
Nearby, Talland Bay has small but picturesque beaches to discover, while the village of Polperro has a reputation as being one of the prettiest places in Cornwall. Bodmin Moor and Plymouth can also both be reached in less than an hour by car too.
