About Weardale Retreat

Surrounded by picturesque walking country and working farmland, this peaceful glamping site offers an ideal adult-only relaxing retreat. For days out, you will also be surrounded by plenty of attractions, including the Beamish Living Museum of the North and Low Force Waterfall within a 30 minute drive. The site offers just one shepherd's hut, sleeping up to two in a comfy double bed with bedding included. Inside, you will also find a modern ensuite with a shower, towels, slippers and bathrobes. There is also WiFi, indoor seating and a wood burner to keep you toasty even in the cooler months. For cooking, you will have a full kitchenette with a microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crock pot and even a coffee machine for your morning cuppa. If you fancy a treat, the site has bookable extras available including afternoon tea, cream scones, flowers, a breakfast basket and more! Step outside and you will also find a private outdoor area. You will have a table and chairs for al fresco dining, a fire pit with a BBQ grill provided for toasting marshmallows and even a private hot tub for unwinding after a long day of exploring! Dogs are also welcome to join you for your stay for no extra charge. The outside space is also fenced to ensure safety for any roaming four-legged friends! Dogs must be kept under control at all times due to being on a working farm. For any guess looking to bring their horse with them, the site has the facilities to keep them as well as electric vehicle charging.

The closest pub is The Frosterley Inn which is a 30 minute walk from the shepherd's hut, and to pick up any essentials the closest shop is the Lakes and Dales Co-Op which is just a 35 minute walk away.

For a unique day out, take a trip to Beamish, the Living Museum of the North, a 30 minute drive away. Travel through different themed villages, taking you from the 1820's through to the 1950's with replica shops, pharmacies, transport and more!

Being in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the site is also in an ideal location for walking routes. The Weardale Way runs just by the site and the Harehope Quarry Project is a 30 minute walk away.

The historic city of Durham is also a 30 minute drive from the site. Full of historic attractions and scenic cobbled streets, a visit to Durham Cathedral or National Trust - Crook Hall Gardens is a must!
