About the site

Sitting on the edge of the Lake District and just minutes from the coast, this peaceful campsite offers easy access to some of Cumbria's most famous landscapes. You can enjoy great views from your pitch, with regular visits from local wildlife including the resident barn owl! For tent campers, there are 5m x 5m grass pitches, or larger 7m x 7m pitches that also allow trailer tents. Roof tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes can pitch up on combination hardstanding and grass pitches, measuring a spacious 12m x 6m. All options are available both without electric, or with a 10 amp hook up. Caravans and motorhomes can also upgrade to a fully serviced hardstanding pitch, which includes a 10 amp electric, grey waste and water hook up, measuring 12m x 6m. For a simple glamping stay, the site also offers cosy camping pods for up to two people. These are a great option for couples or friends with two Z-beds and self inflating mattresses. Each pod has electric, lighting and a small heater, with an outdoor chimenea and seating, along with shared facilities close by. Bedding and towels are not provided, so please bring your own. Children can enjoy the football pitch, while dogs have their own exercise area. At reception, guests will find a small shop selling everyday essentials, along with bike hire for exploring the quiet lanes and nearby trails. The local area is easy to explore on foot. Restaurants and pubs in Seascale are within a 30 minute walk, and Drigg train station is around a 20 minute walk away, making days out without the car simple. Open fires are only allowed in the raised fire pits provided, and BBQs must also be raised off the ground. Please note, fire pits are not permitted on the fully serviced pitches. Up to two dogs are also welcome per pitch, although the camping pods are dog free.

Open all year for campervans, caravans and motorhomes, tent pitches and camping pods are available from 15th March to 1st November. Stay from £31/night for 2 people (2-night minimum).

A note from the site themselves...

We have been a working farm for five generations, and in 2008, we decided to diversify and build the campsite as well as three holiday cottages. This was an ideal opportunity for us, as we have been on many caravanning holidays ourselves over the years.

As we live in a beautiful part of West Cumbria, we decided to build a campsite to share with guests the beautiful surrounding area we are so lucky to experience every day.

We enjoy welcoming guests and meeting new people, as it allows them to see the natural beauty of the area, as well as sharing our knowledge of the local area and the beautiful nature we have all around us. We are extremely proud of what we have created from just a field, which we are expanding all the time.

With us being located on a working farm, it allows guests who visit us learn more about farm life and to experience something new. We hope to welcome you here soon, Rachael

Things to do on site and in the Holmrook area

Seascale Beach is just a 30 minute walk away and is great for a relaxed day by the sea. This long sand and pebble beach has views across the Irish Sea, and is a lovely spot for a sunset stroll or ice cream. There is even a seafront play park for little ones.

For something magical, Stanley Ghyll Waterfall is around a 30 minute drive from the site. Tucked away in ancient woodland, this dramatic waterfall tumbles through a narrow gorge. The walk to the falls is also scenic with bridges, steps and forest paths along the way.

Wast Water is only 20 minutes from the site. Surrounded by towering mountains, it is perfect for lakeside walks, paddling, photography or simply soaking up the views. It is a great place for a family picnic with plenty of open space to explore.

For keen walkers, Scafell Pike is about a 30 minute drive away. As England's highest mountain, it offers an unforgettable challenge and offers incredible views from the top.

Other nearby attractions include:

  • Hardknott Roman Fort and Thermae (30 minutes)
  • Whitehaven Marina (30 minutes)
  • Haverigg Beach (35 minutes)
  • Coniston Water (50 minutes)
  • Lakes Aquarium (1 hour)
