Short camping trip

An excellent campsite. I would recommend to anyone, such as families, couples etc.

Great family campsite

Lovely family friendly campsite with lots of space. Clean facilities, relaxed, helpful and friendly staff. Nice little play area and well stocked shop. Really close to Wast Water for swimming and hiking Scafell Pike etc. Little one loved the alpaca farm at the farm on Wast Water.

Highly recommend

This is a great little site that is especially perfect for families. We loved our 3 night stay and will be booking for next year. The site is very pretty and mostly quite sheltered. The views are spectacular. The park, football pitch and woods is great for kids. The local pub is perfect, with really nice beer and food. The staff on site were helpful and cheerful. This is as our first real camping trip as a family and what a brilliant start.

One of the best sites I've stayed at

A great camp site with everything we needed. It was a clean and tidy site with a good shower and toilet block . A well stocked office shop and a local pub and restaurant close by. It was a great base for plenty of walks, I would definitely stay again.

Brilliant. The facilities were excellent. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The campsite itself had plenty of room for everyone, even when busy. Would definitely recommend and will be going back again.

Fantastic campsite with stunning views

Absolutely fantastic campsite with stunning views of the fells. The staff were really friendly and the facilities were excellent. One tip is to double check the Sat-Nav route before you set off if you want to avoid driving cross-country 😊

An enjoyable stay

Great location and very quiet (though this may have been because schools had not broken up yet). Good access to plenty of walks and Wainwrights. Clean facilities but a bit of a walk if on the further pitches. Highly recommend and hope to stay again.

Fantastic stay

From beginning to end the staff were so friendly and accommodating! This was our first time staying at this site, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The facilities are great, the camp it's self is fab and the location is perfect. We cannot wait to return.

Great site, clean and well managed. Thanks for such a good stay. Would recommend insect repellent and on site log burner hire.

Lovely everything

Very clean, tidy, maintained and organized site. Everyone respectful of the toning the noise down after hours (with exception to the sheep). Lovely setting and surrounding views, pub in walking distance and the shop was really well stocked.

Great

Lovely campsite, just off the main road with plenty of pubs about to stop from food. Half hour walk to get to the base of the peaks to start climbing. Toilets and showers were very clean.

Perfect stay for the western region

Great site with wonderful views, staff and facilities.

Our stay

The only thing, for us ,which could be improved were the toilet/ showers closing time. We found that on most days the closed period fell when we were leaving the site for the day and wanted a last comfort stop before driving.

Site's response

Thanks for the feedback regarding the loos. We would like to point out that checkout is at 11am, and our loos don't close till 11:30am. We do make people aware of this through signage in the shower and loo block, and we open the family bathroom behind the main toilets so that people on-site can continue to use the toilet while we clean.

Negative experience

My experience with this site was extremely unpleasant, despite my efforts to resolve issues with the site. I would neither go back, nor recommend this site to anyone.

As our email conversation with yourself, we make it routine to ask people to reduce the volume of their music, conversations, audiobooks, videos etc. This includes when inside a tent, motorhome or holiday home, as they are in no way sound proof. In addition to this explanation, you were given a full apology as you felt singled out and that the member of staff was accusatory in their tone. For your specific example, the audiobook being played was clearly audible several fields away, and the only reason that you were asked to reduce it's volume. We will continue to ask people to reduce their volume while on site, and have made sure that all staff are better trained in the way they approach this.

Brilliant site

Fantastic stay on site. Book-in process was smooth sailing. Camped with electric for 2 nights, with kids and a dog. Facilities are very clean and well maintained, the girls loved the play park. Also as a side note: book well in advance if looking to eat at the Strands Inn down the road as this venue books up very quickly. However there is a pizza van which parks onsite each evening. Serving very nice pizzas with a choice of topping.

Gorgeous location

Fantastic location near Wast Water and Scafell Pike! Shuttle bus service was great to avoid parking issues on busy days.

Weekend in the lakes

Excellent park with great facilities and an ideal spot for walking Scafell Pike. Would definitely come back again. I've stayed here a few times and can't fault it.

Me and my dog making memories

I would recommend for views, and staff were friendly and helpful, but don't advertise that you have Wi-Fi when you don't and only have it at the entrance. This was a bit of a nightmare. Also, as a single person with a dog, it would be great to have a separate toilet and shower room so you can take your dog with you as it was too hot to leave him in the car and too hot to leave him in the tent.

Thanks for the review and feedback, which we would like to respond to. We make it clear that Wi-Fi is only available at reception, and we are the only campsite locally that provides any kind of Wi-Fi for their guests. We do have an area for dogs to be left outside the shower block, so you don't have to leave them in a car or at the tent. They aren't allowed in any of the washing facilities as the chemicals used for cleaning are extremely harmful to animals, along with other H&S related issues.

Lovely site with fantastic views and good facilities. The café is great. Only add on to make it perfect would be grey water drain.

Excellent option for Scafell Pike and more

Tent based 2 night stay - really friendly and welcoming team, shower block was immaculate and well kitted out, great variety of options for staying (glamping, homes, variety of plots for camper vans, etc). Very quiet overnight and felt really safe. Chose it for access to Scafell Pike, which is great. Not one but two beautiful traditional pubs on your doorstep and a play area for younger ones on site. On site pizzas in the evening were delicious and I also recommend trying the homemade sausage rolls they sell in the shop. I will be back.
