A wonderful small setup for a lovely, quiet getaway. Super friendly hosts who couldn't do enough, felt very welcome in an instant. The grounds are well organised with all required facilities, which are well laid out. Amazing 360° views and 7-10 mins to local pubs. The Black Horse Inn does amazing food. We will definitely return.

Just on our way home from a lovely 2 night stay here. The pod was so comfy, cosy and toasty warm. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows on the fire pit, surrounded by the quiet amazing field views! Everything was clean and it had everything you need. The owners were lovely and helped direct us on our long walk to Carsington Water, which was lovely. We also had the best bangers and mash ever from a pub down the road called The Black Horse. Would definitely come again, thank you 😊

We were greeted on arrival with a friendly smile and full information on everything we needed to know, plus guidance on local walking routes away from main roads etc. The site itself is beautifully quiet and the plots are well spaced. The outlook from our plot was facing west across a beautiful wild flower meadow and blessed with great weather. It was our pleasure to watch the sun set on the horizon. The facilities are great: clean and fully functional; excellent shower and plenty of hot water. Facilities for recycling, waste disposal etc were great. The site welcomes dogs but not children which we were delighted with (being past the child-focused age!). The site is well located for visiting Ashbourne, Derby and the Peak District generally; there are three excellent foody pubs (Black Horse, the Tiger, the Nag's Head) all within very easy reach and all serving great food at reasonable prices.

A brilliant stay! We stayed in the camping pods, which provided with everything you need - TV, heater, mini fridge, microwave, kettle and the rest! Nice comfy built in bed and plenty of hooks for hanging clothing up. There was a BBQ and firepit provided with wood for sitting by the fire and the facilities were clean and kept on top of. Lovely owners too with plenty of land to run the dogs on. Will definitely be returning.

Thank you very much, Sophie. It's great that you have taken the time to leave a review and so pleased you enjoyed your stay - most of the weather for your stay was below freezing but at least dry. It would be lovely to see you and the dogs again.

Lovely stay. Owners very friendly. Be aware of the potholes in nearby lanes! We tried to go to the reservoir, but the sat-nav took us along narrow roads and when we got to a turning, the road said 'no access to reservoir'. Apart from that, had a lovely quiet stay. Nice pub local, but be aware that there were no paths to walk on and a busy road. A little run down looking, but apart from that, it was great. We didn't use the facilities as used our own van. Good recycling options and doggie bin also.
Site's response
Thank you for your visit and we appreciate your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. We always strive to ensure visitors have a pleasant time and are looking for ways to improve the site. I agree the potholes down some of the narrow lanes locally are bad in places - the main roads to the reservoir and to our site are in much better condition and wider. We have a sheet explaining ways of getting to the Reservoir by road or foot. Satnav doesn't always help as you discovered! We understand the site is not looking it's best just now. The heavy rain over the winter and into spring means we have only just been able to mow this week. Also, fencing and gardening jobs are on hold for the same reason. Roll on better weather! Hope you have a great summer in your motorhome and thank you for your comments.

Lovely site, has glamping pods and everything was nice and clean. My 1st time campervanning, hence not for the faint-hearted, as it was very cold and windy - 3 seasons in one day but beautiful area. Hosts very helpful and kind.

Booked a last minute weekend away at this site, only 15 mins from my house. The couple that run the site were lovely, helped me to the pitch and made sure I had everything I needed, including recommendations for food and places to go. Pitches are long so can accommodate larger vehicles and the views are brilliant. 2 toilets and 1 shower are on site, they are immaculately clean. 5 minute walk to Hulland Ward and there are 2 pubs (the Black Horse is excellent for food), a small shop and a farm shop. A bus stop is right outside the site entrance, but it doesn't run on Sundays. Will definitely be back again!

Stayed at Poplars Farm, very relaxing break. The owners were very welcoming, considering we interrupted their Christmas Day. Shower was lovely and hot with plenty of room and it was spotless, as were the toilets. A big thank you for the loan of the hook up cable, looking forward to returning in 2024.

Everything you need for a weekend break. Two pubs just down the road doing home cooked food, we ate at the Nags Head twice, which was very nice and reasonably priced. Unfortunately it was sub zero temperatures and all the caravan pipes froze, along with the washing up facilities and taps on site. Toilets and shower was basic but clean. Would go again.

Warm, cosy pod in the middle of the wild. If you're looking for peace and quiet, then this is your place. Owners welcoming and helpful. Next time, in warmer weather, we will try the toilets and bathroom outside of the pod. We had a visitor from the next farm, a cat called Tommy - very friendly and cheeky.
Site's response
Thank you for your visit. Lovely to meet you both. It is true the toilet and shower room for each pod are in the nearby amenities block, so it is a short step outside. Tommy, the farm cat from next door, certainly missed you after you left!

Honestly myself and partner cannot recommend this place enough. We stayed 3 nights and wished we stayed more. It was a small break for my birthday and my gf called ahead without me knowing and asked if it was possible for the room to be decorated and a cake to be bought. We arrived with the pod decorated and a homemade birthday cake. Loveliest couple running the place and we will be returning. If you're reading this, I highly recommend you come yourselves.

Sara, the host, was very helpful and welcoming. The hut was very clean and tidy, with all the facilities you could wish for. The beds were very comfy and the hut was very warm and cosy. The toilet block was also well maintained and clean. The location was really good, great for Carsington Water and Ashbourne. We would highly recommend this site.

We enjoyed staying here. A small friendly site. You can get a bus from just outside the site to Ashbourne, Belper and Derby. The site is small and quiet. I suggest contacting the site directly for any information you require.
