About the site

Situated off-grid in a charming island oasis, five minutes from Gillingham, this adult-only getaway offers stunning lake views with a unique Japanese outdoor tub for unwinding. You may even book a massage with the massage therapist inside the cabin or on land as you listen to nature's noises or soothing sounds of the waterfall at the end of the stream. The eco-friendly single cork cabin is solar panelled and sleeps up to two people with a luxury memory foam mattress and bedding. Inside, there is a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a wood burner for warmth. Relax on the comfy sofa while cosying up to watch TV, and WiFi is also included. Outside, there is outdoor furniture, including wood stools and a dinner table. Keep a lookout for visits from stags, deer, and ducks! The occasional cows and sheep will make an appearance to graze in the fields next door. The cabin is situated near a viaduct, meaning trains will pass infrequently. For those who want to explore, Duncliffe Woods is a ten minute drive for a scenic stroll. Bruton (15 minutes) and Frome (35 minutes) offer plenty of shops, eateries, and award-winning pubs. Please note that this is a pet free site. A fire pit is provided onsite for those who want to toast marshmallows or have al fresco dining with a BBQ.

This cabin features an ensuite bathroom equipped with a toilet and a shower that provides hot water. There is a kitchen area with a fridge and freezer, as well as a washing up area. Free WiFi is included. Massage treatments are available onsite for an extra charge.

The nearest supermarkets are in Gillingham town, a five minute drive away. This includes an Asda, Waitrose, and Lidl. Local pub, The Dolphin Inn, is a five minute drive serving a range of food and drinks.

A note from the site themselves...

Korkhouse is my proof that thoughtful design and comfort can share the same roof. Wrapped in cork tiles and run off our own solar, it lets the woods set the pace while still feeling quietly luxurious. I welcome guests so they can experience that click of possibility where sustainability isn't a compromise but a perk.

The centre‑piece is the sunken Japanese cedar bath on the deck: slip into steaming water, watch the stars bloom above the treetops, and you'll understand exactly why I built this place at the age of 22.

* Departure is before 11am.

* A maximum of two adults are to stay in the cabin. There should be no additional guests without prior agreement.

* This is a pet free site.

* Smoking and vaping must be outside at least 5m from the building. Use the sand bucket for ash.

* Only use the kiln-dried logs for the wood burner. No coal or waste.

* Japanese Bath: Shower before use and avoid soaps or oils. Keep the lid on while heating.

Things to do on site and in the Gillingham area

Book a massage with the onsite massage therapist, and relax in the great outdoors or inside the cosy cabin. Board games are provided for your stay, ensuring a wholesome games night for two. Enjoy the sunken Japanese cedar bath while dinner awaits. If you fancy an explore, wander the private acre and trace the stream to its little waterfall and spot wildlife.

For history enthusiasts, Stourhead is 15 minutes away, and Gold Hill Museum is just 20 minutes away in Shaftesbury. Or, head to Sherborne (20 minutes) and visit Sherborne Old Castle and its Gardens or Sherborne Museum.

Longleat is a 30 minute drive away, offering a wild animal park drive-thru, theme park amusements, and events for a fun-filled day out.

Enjoy scenic strolls at Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds, a 30 minute drive away, and take a picnic to have around the large boating lake. You could even have a game of tennis or pickleball! It is also adjacent to Smallbrook Meadows Nature Reserve.
