About Holyrood Farm Campsite

Holyrood is the closest campsite to Shaftesbury and picture-perfect Gold Hill. There is a panoramic view from every position on site and you're within walking distance of the town. Stourhead and Longleat Safari Park are 20-25 mins away, or it's 40 minutes to Sandbanks and from there on to the Jurassic Coast. Camping is on a secluded working farm which has resident sheep, alpacas, cattle and pigs. The farm is unspoilt and is full of wildlife. All pitches are grassed and non electric, offering plenty of space to relax and spread out. Campfires are allowed, along with BBQs, to keep the evenings merry.

The site is open bank holidays and weekends between 29th March and the 21st July and is then open from 4th to 30th August.

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include flushing toilets (three ladies' loos and one men's loo along with urinals), a washing-up area and fire pits for rent and wood for sale. It's a back to basics spot, but two hot showers and a mobile toilet trailer are provided.

Less than a mile away is the Ye Olde Two Brewers and there are shops, including a well stocked Tesco at Shaftesbury, starting from 10 mins walk away.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

My friend and I stayed here for the Aug bank holiday weekend and we love basic, back to nature camping but with some simple facilities. This campsite is perfect for that. There is a toilet block, a couple of semi outdoor showers and washing up point. Toilets were always clean and plenty of loo roll, showers were lovely and warm. We both love the semi outdoor showers! Jason was lovely. He dropped off our firepit and wood where we were pitched and had a quick chat but otherwise left us to our own devices. Not overbearing or intrusive in any way. The field is big with incredible views and even with tents pitched in front of us, we still had a great view due to the tiered pitches. Shaftesbury was just a 15min walk from the site.

Peaceful site with beautiful views over Blackmore Vale

Beautiful setting, very clean and smart field, easy access via footpath to Shaftesbury. I knew there was no electric so planned accordingly!
