VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Campervan PitchesJul 2023

Spacious and peaceful site with an outdoor pool, and immaculately and regularly cleaned facilities. We chose this site (as a couple in our 50s) because it said it was suitable for couples and brought our small well-behaved doggie. We enjoyed the great country and coastal walking routes and Chesil Beach, and also drove to nearby Weymouth, Bridport and West Bay, and even Bournemouth and Lyme Regis for days out.

Beautiful site that is well maintained and with excellent facilities that are spotless. Lots of space around campsite for kids to play. Pool is a nice bonus. Excellent location for trips to Weymouth and lovely private farm coastal walk. Shop sells a good range at reasonable prices and barn serving food and entertainment is a plus. Ideal for families. We will be back.

Great, rural camp site with amazing clean facilities. Great park and outdoor pool, shop not too expensive. Bar food was homemade and great service. Kids loved the entertainment and space to play football and cricket. Reasonable shelter from the winds.

Lovely place, could do better!

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2023

Ideal location to base yourself for the lovely scenic county of Dorset. Showers and toilet facilities clean, would expect them to get very busy when the venue is packed, but it wasn't on this occasion. Pool clean and management are careful not to have too many people in there at one time. Clubhouse large and has a dance floor, with DJ on for a couple of hours in the evening. However, after all these positives, the strict rules and Management attitude towards their guests If felt left a lot to be desired. Poor telephone manner, rude to children and adults alike, shuts clubhouse early and hurried people out at last orders (10pm). Hoovering at last orders? Didn't return to clubhouse after that! Dogs to be kept on leads at all times, even well managed and behaved ones that are sitting by your own tent! With a cheerful approach, this venue could be so much better and welcoming! Having read the reviews for the past 10+ years though, similar feedback doesn't appear to have been taken on board.

Site's response

Thank you for your review. We operate a quiet night policy and as such our clubhouse closes at 10pm. Last orders are at 9.30pm. The entertainment finishes at 9pm. For the safety and enjoyment of all our guests and local wildlife - dogs are only accepted on the park IF they are kept on a lead at all times. This is made clear to dog owners at all stages of booking.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2023

Overall this is a lovely campsite, it is clean and the sites are spacious - however there are some negatives. I didn't like the fact you need to book for the swimming pool. Also if you wanted to have Wi-Fi, you had to pay 3 per day for each device, I think this is a really hefty cost, especially as we did purchase it for 1 day for 1 device and it didn't even work. Other campsites we have been to allow you to swap your ice packs for frozen ones. Here, they didn't do that, but charged you to have a frozen bottle of water - I thought this was pretty cheeky really. The entertainment was the same every night and was only on for a few hours, other than that it was lovely, nice walks and well maintained site. We took 2 teenage girls, so unless there are other teenager camping at the same time, then there is little for them to do

Site's response

Thank you for your comments and stars. It is necessary for guests to book pool sessions as it helps to manage bather numbers, which is essential to ensure the safe operation of all pools. We do charge for Wi-Fi as being in a remote rural location delivering a service to most areas of the camping park is a costly business. If a Wi-Fi voucher doesn't work for any reason we are always willing to offer a refund. Since the pandemic, we no longer offer a freezer pack service for reasons of health and hygiene. You will appreciate that freezing any item incurs costs and we don't think it unreasonable to make a charge for it. We find most customers consider paying the price of a bottle of water, for a bottle of water that is frozen, to be a handy way of getting a bottle of water and keeping their food box cool! Our camping park and the entertainments are primarily aimed at younger children, although we do find them popular with people of all ages. Sorry if it wasn't to the taste of your teenage girls. Doubtless you'll find a place better suited to their needs next time around. Thanks again for your thoughts and stars.

The site is in a good location for walks and only a few minutes drive from the beach and shops. The kids loved the play park and the outdoor pool.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2023

A really nicely maintained site with clear spaces marked out for pitching. The showers were clean as were the toilets. The children loved the pool which had nice picnic benches around it so you could watch if you didn't want to get in! There is a lovely local walk to Fleet Lagoon and directions were given by a member of staff when we booked in. Would definitely go back!

Could be a lot better

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Caravan PitchesJul 2023

Pitch sizes are good. Showers clean and tidy. The club could do with a choice of draught beers and some updating. It was the start of the school holidays and it was very quiet, probably because there are too many rules on site - the do's and all the dont's.

Trailer Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2023

Just returned from a stay at West Fleet farm, overall a nice site with very clean facilities and well kept. There are a lot of reviews about strict rules on this site but we experienced no problems at all. The site was very quiet which suited us. I think the showers might become a bit busy if the site was full though as there seem to be over 300 pitches. If we returned to the area we would stay here again. A good site for considerate campers.

Site's response

Thank you. Pitch numbers operated max 180, and we have 3 separate facilities blocks, which many campers are not aware of.

Great time - staff were very friendly and helpful

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Caravan PitchesJul 2023

A very peaceful site, lovely pitches and excellent toilet/shower blocks. However, the swimming pool is rarely open and you have to book a time slot. As for the bar /restaurant, that is only open peak times in the school holidays. The internet is available at a cost.

Site's response

Our bar is only open during the peak season, as advertised, during the school holidays. But, there is a bar just a 5 minute walk from the park that does food every evening. Our pool is open between 3pm and 5pm each day outside of the school holidays. 10am to 5pm During the peak season. Users must register before using the pool.

Great stay, great campsite, would recommend

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2023

Great stay. Good location, 15 minutes from Weymouth town centre. The campsite was well kept, good facilities which were always clean and tidy. The site also benefits from two family bathrooms which have a bath with shower over, toilet and basin with plenty of room, definitely a bonus when travelling with smaller children. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use the outdoor pool but it looked great. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

Peace and quiet just what we needed

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2023

This park is lovely clean. Owners are great. We went out of season, and the pool was only open between 15:00 and 17:00, which was perfect after a day out. Will definitely stay again and would love to see the atmosphere in the high season. Pool is booked at 30 mins slots so be aware. Play area for kids, large field space which is safe for them to run.

Friendly and comfortable

Motorhome - Electric Grass Campervan PitchesJun 2023

Quite remote, but the good on-site facilities make up for that. Staff in the shop are helpful with local information. The private circular walk to the lagoon is a nice bonus.

Quiet stay in June

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Campervan PitchesJun 2023

We enjoyed our stay and were very surprised there were so few people staying. The bar was not open and there was no catering on site, as advertised when we booked, so we felt that the price of our off season stay could have been reduced to reflect this. Also, there was no milk or bread in the shop apart from some burger rolls. The facilities were good, but there were problems trying to flush the ladies' toilets in the newer block (the old one was closed). The water pressure was high in the kitchen sinks so we were puzzled that there seemed to be insufficient water to flush the toilets quite often, given there were so few people on site in any event. There was plenty of hot water too. We loved the location, the views and the easy access to the coastal path, and the peace and quiet.

Site's response

Hi, Thank you for calling into reception to let us know the issue with two of the push button flushes in the ladies. We got them replaced the next day. (small crack in the internal plastic, not a water pressure issue.) With Aldi a stones throw away, we find many people bring their own supplies, so we do try to avoid food waste by not stocking too many perishables when the park is really quiet. We usually have fresh milk and bread in, but when its gone, its gone. There is another shop 10 mins walk from the park that is better stocked when we run out.
