Guests can also enjoy access to the onsite shop and cafe, serving up an all day brunch, beer, wine and even a Sunday lunch. Dogs are welcome too!

About Mersea Barns Glamping
An ideal base for exploring Colchester and the Essex coastline. This family friendly glamping site is situated a 15 minute walk from the shores of Mersea Island, within a 45 minute drive of the popular seaside destinations of Clacton-on-Sea and Brightlingsea. Ideal for couples, the Saltmarsh shepherd's hut sleeps two in a double bed, kitted out with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Inside you will find a fully equipped kitchenette, along with an ensuite shower room, a breakfast bar and stools and a sofa bench, plus a radiator and wood-burning stove for keeping toasty. For those holidaying as a family, the site offers two luxury safari tents that can accommodate up to six. Each tent comes fully furnished with a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a double cabin bed. You will have a spacious living area with a kitchen, along with a shower room and loo, underfloor heating and a covered veranda. For evenings in the outdoors, all of the glamping units have an outdoor dining/seating area with a fire pit for toasting marshmallows. All guests will also have access to WiFi. Four-legged friends can also join in on the fun as the shepherd's hut and Rowan safari tent are dog friendly.
Mersea Barns Glamping is open all year round.
Each accommodation has an ensuite with a toilet and shower as well as an equipped kitchenette for washing up. There is free WiFi in each accommodation and also plenty of bike racks if you wish to bring yours. A kid's play area is also located by the café with a messy play space (extra charge).
There is an onsite café that is open every day from 8:30am until 3:30pm. Serving all day brunch, take away snacks, Sunday lunch, sandwiches, cake, ice creams and drinks, including alcohol. For the essentials, there is a shop on site that is open every day from 8:30am until 4pm. It also sells drinks, snacks and gifts.

Things to do on site and in the Colchester area
Just a 25 minute walk from the site you will find the picturesque Cudmore Grove Country Park. The park and beach are ideal for an afternoon out, with plenty of scenic running trails that take you by the water.
A short 15 minute drive will also take you into Colchester town centre. Visit the famous Colchester Zoo, learn about some local history at Hollytrees Museum or have a wander around St Botolph's Priory.
