Things to do in Ramsgate
Like the harbour towns of Margate and Broadstairs, Ramsgate feels revitalised in recent years. The area's 15 excellent beaches (including Main Sands in the town, Viking Bay at Broadstairs and Botany Bay a little further beyond) remain a major draw for campers, while the blend of maritime heritage, Georgian and Regency architecture and creative flair is sure to help you escape.
Take a hard hat tour of the Ramsgate Tunnels, a 2.5 mile WWII shelter that evolved into something of an underground city while the town above was devastated by bombing. Check out the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum too.
Walkers and cyclists will enjoy exploring the 32 mile Viking Coastal Trail connecting Ramsgate to Broadstairs and Margate - or follow the Saxon Shore Way down to Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve.
A boat trip to find seals on Goodwin Sands will go down well with the whole family.
