About Moss Wood Caravan Park

This is a beautifully well kept park in an ideal location, conveniently just 15 minutes drive from junction 33 of the M6. The park is surrounded by beautiful countryside just on the edge of the Forest of Bowland AONB to one side, and the coastal plain to the other. The park is meticulously maintained and is a family-run business. It's great for families with a park and open field for the young ones to play and tire themselves out in. This is a quiet relaxing holiday location for couples and friends of all ages, with a host of rural activities in the area. The park is run in a relaxed way, but it is important that noise is kept to a minimum after 10.30pm.

While dogs are more than welcome on site, they must be kept under control and any fouling must be cleared up immediately.

There is a well-stocked coarse fishing lake on site, with a wide variety of fish including carp, crucian carp, tench, roach, bream, perch, and rudd. Bring your best rods and see what you can catch!

The park runs a monthly photo comp, so do get a snap with your impressive catch.

All around you is some of themost beautiful countryside in England, from the coastal plain around Cockerham and Glasson Dock to the internationally recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is the Forest of Bowland. There is a whole range of outdoor pursuits available in the area such as hiking and cycling.

Moss Wood is less than a mile from the Lancashire Coastal Way, a 137 mile footpath that runs from the Ribble Estuary in the South up to Cumbria in the North. Alternatively, there are a number of viewpoints where you can go to take in the beauty of the area in a more relaxed fashion.

If sightseeing is more your cup of tea, then you are spoilt for choice. There are over 500 listed buildings and 18 monuments in the Forest of Bowland AONB alone, with more across the coastal plains such as Cockersand Abbey and Plover Scar lighthouse.

The more obvious choice for sightseeing however is the historic city of Lancaster, just 8 miles away from Moss Wood. As the seat of the House of Lancaster, one of the most powerful medieval families and one of the 'roses' famous in the War of the Roses, there are many places of historic significance to visit in the city.

For example, Lancaster Castle - once the bastion against Scottish invasion before becoming a prison, now a museum where you can tour the history of the great landmark.

If you're looking for the beach instead, the coastal town of Knott End is just down the road. From there it's just a three minute ferry over the Lune Estuary to the beach resort of Fleetwood, which is itself connected by tram to Blackpool. Alternatively, both places are within easy driving distance.

Very close by is Glasson Dock, built in 1779 as an early part of the industrial revolution that kick started in Lancashire before spreading across the world. Today the dock is much more laid back with pleasure boats alongside a small working docks.
