Edging the stunning forest - which is paradise for dogs- Kielder Village Camping and Caravan Site is a quiet and extremely remote site, great for fans of walking and cycling. It's also a huge hit with stargazers, as its within a Dark Sky Park, so the sky is incredible at night. Keen astronomers will also head to Kielder Observatory, a family friendly option nearby.
Looking for a remote and peaceful escape? This site is just a few miles from the Scottish Border and perfectly placed for the Northumberland National Park. Tent camping is a 'pick where you'd like to stay' affair in a lengthy field, unless you'd like one of a limited amount of electric pitches. For campervans, motorhomes and touring caravans there are hardstandings, all with 10-Amp electric and many with space to pop up an awning. The golden rule here is that no vehicles can drive or park on the grass, which keeps the ground in good condition for others that follow. Try the site's pods, four two berth pods and two four berth pods. These are not glamping style pods with beds and furnishings, but provide the simple shelter of a wooden heated and lit tent. Please bring all you need to site as this is the spot for real escapes, far from the hustle of shops and urban areas. Dogs are welcome to join in pods and on pitches.
Open from 27 March to 28 October
