Bush of Ewes is situated in the Southern Uplands of Scotland in Langholm, just 25 minutes from the Scotland and England border. Tents and trailer tents can pitch up on one of the site's grass pitches, whilst caravans and motorhomes can stay on the hardstanding pitches, each with stunning countryside views and the option of electric. Enjoy easy access from the A7 and being located just 30 minutes from Gretna Green and 45 minutes from Carlisle.

About Bush of Ewes

Situated in Scotland's Southern Uplands, the site is ideal for walking, recharging and other simple pleasures. Set in a walkers' haven, it is located right at the start of the nine mile Meikledale walk. Other hiking areas in the vicinity include the prehistoric trail at Loch Hill, a five minute drive away, and the Langholm Hills. Tents and trailer tents can pitch up on one of the site's ten grass pitches, whilst caravans or motorhomes can stay on one of the five hardstanding pitches, all with the option of adding 16 amp electric. Enjoy cooking up a fry up and taking yourself for a little paddle in the river onsite to really wake yourself up. Birds and other wildlife are also frequent visitors at this peaceful site, so keep an eye out as you go along. BBQ and fire pits are allowed, just please ensure they are raised off the ground. Dogs are welcome, with a maximum of three per pitch.

Onsite facilities include two toilets and a water points, Elsan point and dog walking area. There is also a river suitable for paddling.

Bush of ewes campsite is a walkers paradise and a lovely place for all the family to enjoy, if you enjoy walking watching the wild birds visiting the friendly sheep goats and chickens or just relaxing by the river it is the perfect place.

Guests can enjoy a paddle in the Meikledale Burn stream which runs directly past the site, dogs may also love to splash around. The site also often has a blow up bouncy castle, perfect for keeping the kids busy.

Walkers will be spoilt for choice. The stunning nine mile Meikledale walk starts at the site and is a great way to spend the day, especially if you take a picnic. There is also the trail at Loch Hill, a five minute drive away, and the Langholm Hills (15 minutes).

There are also many historic castles in the area, great for learning about the fascinating history of Scotland. Hermitage Castle (25 minutes) has over a 400 year history involving Mary Queen of Scots and William First Earl of Douglas. Other nearby castles include Carlisle Castle (40 minutes) and Caerlaverock Castle (1 hour).

You might want to track down a Scottish castle or make your way to Carlisle (45 minutes) for a spot of sightseeing. The Lake District National Park is around an hour's drive away too, if you fancy a day out by the lakes.

For an authentic taste of Scotland, head to The Borders Distillery, 25 minutes away. The first scotch whisky distillery in the Scottish Borders since 1837, here you can enjoy a tour where you learn about the process of making whisky, and can even buy some in the shop to bring home.
