Brilliant site, spotlessly clean and in a lovely area

Stayed here for 9 days during Scotland's stormy weather. The site is kept spotlessly clean, even with muddy feet and wet weather. Showers, toilets and laundry all in perfect working order. Camping kitchen well equipped and great to be able to cook outside of the van. Staff very welcoming and helpful, always busy doing something to keep the site looking great. Nice walks along Union Canal and shops within driving distance. Quiet site with no noise at all and pitches spacious and level. Loved my stay here.

Pleasant site

Clean facilities and friendly and helpful staff. Well stocked shop, nice showers and well kept site. Easy walk to a pub (The Grapes) with great bar food. Handy for airport.

Lush and blissful

I wish I could say 100 star rating because its was magnificent the pitch size and location beautiful walks central to Edinburgh and for trip to stirling. Peaceful no rowdiness just a beautiful stop Please disregard what I say as don’t want to let everyone know we found an oasis? Big up to staff friendly polite helpful I applaud you all it speaks volumes

Spacious pitches

Chose this site as it was convenient for an event we were attending. Spacious pitches, super clean toilet and shower facilities, excellent kitchen and washing up area. Well stocked shop. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to attractions and eating places. Will use this site again and will recommend it also.

Great camp spot to use as a 'basecamp'

We rented a motorhome for a Highlands holiday over Easter. Linwater was just round the corner from where we picked up our vehicle so it acted as a very convenient 'basecamp' for us. Facilities were great and the staff were friendly. We'll definitely be using Linwater as our 'motorhome basecamp' for future trips to the Highlands.

Clean and tidy!

The first site to get 5 stars for everything. The shower facilities were like a premium gym, clean and tidy! Location was great but we didn't stay long enough to explore laundry services. Looking forward to our next stay!

Excellent all round

Host came out in the rain to let me in and show me where my spot was, a great start 😀 Grounds are well maintained, facilities are immaculate and the nearest town is but a few minutes drive away - plus there are several options for delivery.

Fantastic facilities

A great little site on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We stayed as a break on our way back down from the Highlands to the Midlands. Best showers ever, very clean, lovely and warm shower block. Great fully serviced pitches. Very dog friendly with great walks from the site. We will be staying again on our travels in Scotland.

Amazing facilities and very clean

Very clean and self efficient. Laundry, kitchen, shop and toilets/showers were very clean and comfortable to use.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

Another fabulous holiday! This is a great place. Wonderfully close to Edinburgh. Excellent staff and superb facilities - what more could you ask for? First location where, as a tent camping family, we didn't feel second best to the caravan crew. Same excellent facilities to service our tent as they had. Great having water and electric hook-up right by the pitch!

Gone by the wind!

First time at Linwater, but certainly not the last. Really friendly, clean site with great staff who are happy to help when needed. Close to local attractions yet far away enough to be in peaceful countryside. Had to cut the stay short on the 3rd night due to the heavy winds, but this was no fault of the site obviously! Can't wait to return in 2024! 🏕️

Lovely site

This was a really lovely site, beautifully laid out with well manicured lawns. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pitches are a really good size. The ladies toilets are a nightmare! The door bangs very loudly with every single entry and exit. The hand driers are exceptionally loud and the noise seems to echo and carry throughout the room. The toilets were clean, plenty of paper and the shower worked reasonably well although pressure wasn't great. The other thing to mention is that this site sits right under the flight path for the nearby airport and the planes can be pretty loud. The site was lovely overall and I realise that some of the issues were personal to me and wouldn't impact most people.

A lovely friendly site, great for Edinburgh visits too

A warm greeting and a lovely pitch. It is close to the airport but that didn't worry us. We were on a road trip, so only stayed one night. Caught the bus into Edinburgh (a bit of a walk into Calderwood and then a 30-40 min bus ride). Perfect for us! Great facilities and well maintained. The resident chickens were a plus too!

My stay

Good clean site, staff friendly and helpful. Only bad thing was that we came with family and asked to be next to each other and was not. When we asked to change, staff said we could not but site next to ours I felt could have been swapped.

Convenient for Edinburgh

Absolutely brilliant time, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The showers and toilets were immaculate. Our stay was 4 nights Mon to Fri, there was (not that I used them) a kitchen with a microwave to prepare food, washing facilities for your dishes, there was a washing machine, clothes dryer and a shop which sold a lot of what you wanted. The site is due to be upgraded in the autumn to include a family washroom with a bath. But 10/10 all around, definitely recommend and only about 25 minutes away from Edinburgh and 10 mins from Livingston with retail outlets.

Last minute

Last minute stay. Unfortunately, we felt that there nothing to do on site, apart from a small public kitchen room with a microwave/fridge tv etc., Directly in flight path from Edinburgh airport.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you didn't feel that there was anything to do on site. Although we may be a small campsite, there is lots to do nearby including visiting Scotland's capital, Edinburgh. The local village of East Calder is a short walk from the campsite and there are many places to eat locally or some can even be delivered directly to the pitch.

Good campsite

This park is ideal for travellers to stay during August for the Edinburgh Fringe or concerts. There is a bus stop about a mile away that takes you into Edinburgh. Edinburgh Airport is close by and you are aware of planes flying in and out. Also noise from road, but not too disturbing. Overall, we did enjoy our stay.

Great place to stay, very clean and tidy

We had a great time. Good location close to travel to local attractions. Nice, quiet clean and well-maintained site. We will be back
