About Hilly Cow Wigwams
Escape to the countryside and yet remain a handy 40 minutes from Edinburgh. This site is the perfect countryside escape where you can enjoy days of sight seeing and then retreat back to the peace of your secluded glamping site. Wigwam pods are the perfect way to add a little glamping magic to your camping experience, each sleeping up to five people. The two standard Wigwam pods each sleep up to five with a large bed for up to four people, along with a single bed for one. The standard plus Wigwams are the same, but with the added extra of a private toilet and shower hut next to your pod, and there is a facilities block nearby. There are also three Wigwams, each equipped with two double beds and a single bed, or a table and chairs. You will also have the comfort of your own ensuite toilet and sink with showers in a shared facility nearby. Or, treat yourself to the deluxe pods featuring a TV/ DVD player, a kitchen area with a hob, ensuite showrooms, and even add a hot tub for relaxing evenings under the stars! Inside each of the pods is also a kitchen area with a microwave, fridge, heater, kettle and toaster. Outside you will also have your own picnic bench and fire pit, perfect for toasting marshmallows under the stars. You can even hire the whole site for a fun party or get-together. BBQs and campfires in fire pits are welcome. Dogs are welcome in all of the pods, except for the deluxe Wigwam pods.

Site facilities include a shared amenity block with well-kept showers, toilets and a family shower room, plus a kitchen/diner and a games room. Guests in the ensuite pods have their own self contained toilet and sink, those in the deluxe pods have an ensuite with a toilet and shower. Free WiFi is provided.
The nearest shop to the site is Festival Stores, five minutes away, and the closest pub is The Grapes just ten minutes away. Food deliveries are available from takeaways in the area including Domino's, a fish and chip shop, Italian food and Chinese food.

1st weekend without kids in 10 years for partner's birthday. It's perfect, the best weekend we've had in years! So peaceful. Lovely cabins and the shower room and kitchen are super clean and great. Made so welcome and already discussing booking with the kids this time!

Loved the surroundings. The pod is clean and had everything you need. Family is very nice and take their time to talk and ask if you need anything. Centre of Edinburgh is 30 minutes away and nearest train station is 7 minutes.

Had a fantastic wee break at Hilly Cow Wigwams. It was very quiet and peaceful with all the facilities on site to make the stay stress free. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness may need a little more attention, a few things, but nothing major. Would recommend and definitely go again in the future. Thank you.

Things to do on site and in the Kirknewton area
Get the fun started by saying hello to the adorable pigs, sheep, hens and cows resident on site and learning a little about the farm. From there, you'll find unbeatable walks on your doorstep - along with pony trekking, cycling and golfing.
The Camera Obscura and World of Illusions (35 minutes) are great for a bit of fun and a good photo. See stunning views of Edinburgh from the tower and enjoy playing around in the interactive illusions and distorted photo rooms.
Edinburgh is just 13 miles away and is full of attractions including Edinburgh Castle, Dean Village, Gladstone's Land and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. In the lead up to the new year you can also find amazing Christmas markets, perfect for getting you in the festive spirit.
For a family fun day out, Deep Sea World (30 minutes) makes for a fascinating and educational trip. Be a dare-devil and book a shark experience, or simply wander round and see the amazing sealife animals including rays, seals and piranhas.
