Absolutely beautiful surroundings, really peaceful with a lovely atmosphere. Was a great addition to have the park and the pool. Would definitely recommend. Location was quite remote (which we loved). The nearest pub is 1.5 miles away, but this didn't bother us as we were happy to spend the whole time of our stay on site. Sometimes the showers were cold. Mine personally was fine, but my husband said the men's were cold. We had a wonderful time, and we would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The campsite is beautiful and the facilities were very clean, spacious enough and everything worked like it was supposed to. The swimming pool (which was heated) was a nice extra but we didn't use it. The camp site is nice and calm. You hear children playing and birds chirping and that's about it. The tent pitches were big, had some shade and sunshine and there were plenty of picnic benches you could use. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Maybe very large family groups should be situated away from smaller families or single campers, or I should have moved on the second day because of the noise issues. Children, I don't have a problem, but feel that adults should know better. Showers where very cold 🥶, even on the second showering the next day. Trees could do with a hair cut, but they do love the outdoors.
Site's response
We only allow groups in the low and mid season when we are generally less busy, this allows us to spread people out more. We were unusually busy when you stayed with us which made this much more difficult. Please accept our apologies for the showers, the issue was stubbornly difficult to diagnose but has now been resolved.

Nice secluded park with huge pitches. Bathroom facilities were fine and kept clean but unable to shower on 2 occasions due to no hot water. Recycling is important to this site which we liked. Swimming pool booked sessions only which are 45mins long. Didn't book ourselves but worth knowing in advance. Only 10amp hook-up, so can't run too many appliances but you work around it.

We had a lovely stay, benefitting from other people staying away due to a dodgy forecast. We looked out onto lovely woodland and rhododendron bushes, with lots of birdlife and squirrels. We actually couldn't see any other tents or campervans from our pitch, though this was unusual and probably lots busier during the high season. The owners were helpful, friendly and informative and passionate about recycling, providing excellent clear instructions and facilities for this. Good shower and toilet facilities, though it was difficult to get particularly hot water unless other people had recently showered. Good walks from the site but rather a long walk to pubs. Thank you Alpine Grove.

If you're looking for peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings this is for you. Family owned so personal touch is there. Small shop which is very well stocked. BBQs provided and materials for fire pits. Swimming pool that you can book by scanning on your phone. Very tidy and clean. We stayed for 2 nights but would have stayed longer if we could. Will definitely return.

I can't rate this camp site highly enough. The woodland setting with a decent playground makes it a dream for kids to make friends and play in, and the secure, gated site means it feels safe to let them do so. All facilities were clean most of the time, and there was always hot water. Good sized pitches, some of which were lovely and private in amongst the trees. The only downside to the woodland setting is the lack of sunlight getting through in some areas and so sometimes soggy/leaf strewn ground, but a pair of wellies made it no problem and the benefits more than outweigh this one small disadvantage. Having the use of a pool was a lovely extra. Friendly owner with lovely little touches like providing ready to go fire pits delivered to your pitch. You can tell this place is run by people who care. We will definitely return!

Absolutely gorgeous woodland setting with handy shop, swimming pool and playpark. Clean showers and loos. Nice, friendly staff. Lots of younger kids around as it was half-term so fairly lively!

Very well maintained friendly site. Clean showers and the swimming pool is fantastic. Good play area. The only downside was there were children in the play area past 9pm so having an early night was not an option and it's difficult getting young children to sleep with the noise.

Tried out a new tent with dogs new to camping so there was a lot that could go wrong. We arrived not long after some heavy rain for a few days, the ground was very wet but still campable. After setting up and having more rain the sun eventually joined us for a longer stay on night 4 so we extended our stay by a night. The campsite is small but beautiful. Camped in May with all the site flowers in bloom. Enough facilities for the stay including a communal freezer for those staying without electric. Plenty of benches scattered around for people to use. Little trails all through the site for any brief walks or for the dogs. Showers were a little cold but nothing really to complain about. The other toilet facilities were more than adequate with the bonus of a hairdryer in the ladies. Family bathroom, wash up area and laundry room if needed. Even a heated outdoor pool thats bookable for singular use for 45mins at a time. Lots of families staying when we were there so lots of noisy children playing late into the night and early morning. Overall great place that I hope to return to.

Campsite has good facilities, small site but meant the kids couldn't run off too far. Pool was great for the kids, can book in for 45 minute slots. Staff really helpful. Weather was horrendous, which made it very muddy but it's probably okay normally.

A very secluded site with lots of wildlife, including some nicely active woodpeckers. The ablution block was very clean and functional. The showers were powerful enough but much hotter in the morning than the evening (still warm but not hot). The shop had the essentials such as milk, bacon and drinks, also some hand made products and nice bits and bobs. It was very quiet site, with very friendly and helpful staff. We had a highly pleasant stay and I would recommend this site and would return.

A lovely site, perfectly situated for walking and cycling. The woods are just beautiful. The outdoor pool is heated. A lovely safe environment for the children! A 2 mile cycle into the charming market town of Chard. The Village Bakery in the town is a go-to destination, just good old-fashioned fresh food in their cafe. The ham salad was divine! Not a complaint, just a suggestion, the showers could definitely be hotter.

Booked very last minute for Easter weekend, and what a fab find! The site is absolutely beautiful, set in woodland and small, so no overcrowding or feeling overlooked. We will definitely be booking again in the future! I read a few reviews saying the facilities weren't great, but I found they were clean throughout our stay. Literally, the only thing I could mark down is that when I used the shower, it stayed warm for about 30 seconds, then went cold and didn't warm back up. Other than that, there were no negatives to our stay!

Great campsite with lovely facilities. My children enjoyed the heated pool, despite the rainy weather. Toilet/shower blocks were clean and had a hairdryer facility, which was a welcome find after a swim.

We stayed in a woodland pitch which was beautiful and peaceful. We had a nice secluded spot, the dog loved the shade of the trees and the children enjoyed exploring and riding their bikes around the little tracks. There is a nice play area for the kids and an outdoor pool which you could book a private slot for. Perfect for a splash around and great that it wasn't overcrowded. The owner also let us use it outside of our booked slot because it was quiet, so always worth popping into the shop to ask. Our pitch was further from the facilities, the meadow pitches are closer but busier, so it depends on what you prefer. Nice hot showers, clean toilets and a family bathroom, which is really handy with kids. There wasn't much traffic moving around, so it felt safe letting the kids roam free. There's a lovely little woodland walk which is perfect for the dog. It had a great feel on site and people respected the quiet after 22:30. There were no electric points in public areas, so take a power bank if you need to charge phones etc. The only downside was that the compost toilet in the woods was a bit smelly, we did visit on a particularly hot weekend though and it didn't bother us, but may be a problem for some? Overall, it was a really enjoyable stay and we would definitely return 😊

Nice secure little site in a wonderful location, but no point in having a quiet policy after 10:30pm and before 7:30am if it don't exist. We were kept awake by a very loud party on the Friday night until 1am on the Saturday night. Showers took too long to get hot and kept going cold when they did eventually warm up. Recycling area was very messy and smelly. Very sorry, but won't be returning, not for me.

Thank you for your review and we are sorry that you had a poor experience staying with us. We take all feedback very seriously and will investigate the things you have mentioned to see where improvements can be made. Groups can be difficult to manage, which is why we only allow groups outside of the main holiday period and we always make them aware of our site rules, especially the noise curfew. Anyone who does not comply with our rules will be spoken to and groups will not be permitted to return.

We enjoyed a lovely stay on this woodland site. Family-run, friendly and accommodating. We loved the swimming pool and had lots of fun in the park. The woods offered great shade during the heatwave. Location couldn’t have been better for visiting beaches, River Cottage and National Trust properties. Ideal stay. Campfires are a must!
