The Willows Campsite is popular with aircraft enthusiasts, thanks to its setting at RAF Mildenhall and the spectacular views of planes swooping overhead that you'll get from its viewing platform. It's also a tempting base for exploring nearby Thetford Forest or zooming to East Anglia's historic cities.

About The Willows Campsite

This is a small family run site for touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans and tents. Everybody is welcome and you don't need to be a member of any club to use the site. You'll be staying very close to the end of the runway at RAF Mildenhall, and only six miles from RAF Lakenheath and so this is the perfect place for military plane fans. As well as grass pitches with electric hook-ups, you can also add comfort to your camping with a pod. The pod offers electric outlet, solid shelter and lighting but do bring your other essentials with you!

The site is open from Easter, (or April 1st if earlier) until the end of October (weather dependent).

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include everything you need for a traditional camping holiday, rather than glamping. Facilities are basic but clean and functional rather than luxury. There are showers (50p per use), toilets and a sink for washing up. Wi-Fi is available on site and the site offers ice pack freezing and charging for mobile phones and gadgets. A viewing platform is available so that you can watch the passing planes and snap photos.

Although an ideal place for the plane spotter, the site is also well based for all parts of East Anglia as it's only 3 miles from the A11, which is the main road into Suffolk and Norfolk.

This gives visitors great access to both counties with their beautiful coastlines, as well as the historic cities and buildings of Cambridge, Norwich, Ely and Newmarket. Once you're on the road, you'll find many other places of interest.

Thetford Forest is on your doorstep and there are plenty of attractions nearby for nature lovers and bird spotters, including some rare species that live nearby.

Cycling is very popular locally and there are some great places to ride, without any of those pesky hills to worry about! Yes, it's pretty flat around here!
