About the site

Set in a two acre meadow, part of 23 acres of fields and woodland, this charming glamping site offers guests the chance to switch off. Sit back, unwind and take in the views, or take the short ten minute drive to the nearest beach and enjoy a day by the Sussex seaside. With only eight units, the small glamping site will never be too crowded, so everyone has the chance to enjoy some peace and quiet. Each of the tipis comes hand painted, with its own unique charm. The two large tipis sleep a maximum of four in a double futon and two singles. The six extra large tipis can sleep up to six guests and are equipped with a double futon with a feather topper, along with two single futons/air beds, pillows, bedding and linen. Where applicable, guests must bring their own mattresses and bedding for a fifth and sixth occupant. To ensure a nice cosy stay, the interiors also come finished with rugs, floor cushions and bean bags. All cooking equipment will also be provided, including cutlery, glasses, pots, pans, cups, plates and BBQ utensils. When the sun is shining, you will also have your own outdoor area with seating to enjoy. For the Large Tipis, this includes a BBQ and campfire, and for the Tipis this includes a BBQ, bean bags, a gas stove, cool box and campfire. Shared facilities, including loos and showers, can also be found nearby, including a communal fridge. The site also sells their own fresh eggs and local sausages and burgers, perfect for cooking up on the BBQ! Dogs are also welcome to join you for your stay.

Facilities include a toilet with two ladies, one gents and one disabled loo, and a shower block with three showers. The facility block also has a covered washing up area, fridge space, an outdoor tap and electricity points. The facilities are heated using solar energy.

Each Tipi comes with a BBQ, cooking equipment, a cool box, gas stove and a campfire. Also, the site does sell home produced free range eggs and locally produced sausages and burgers for your breakfasts.

The closest shop for picking up all of the essentials is Cowdray Park Store just a 15 minute drive from the site, and the closest pub is The Bull's Head just a 30 minute walk or five minute drive and The Lamb Inn is just a ten minute drive, both serving real ales and great food.

You may check in from 3pm until 9pm. Please let the site know if you are going to be delayed. Check out is due at 10:30am on your last day.

Is Big Sky Tipi Holidays dog-friendly?

Yes! You may bring up to two dogs with you, the site asks that they are kept on a lead at all times and not left unattended. Breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act are not permitted.

Does Big Sky Tipi Holidays allow BBQs and campfires?

Yes, in the fire pits you are allowed to have a campfire and BBQs are allowed as long as they are raised from the ground.

Does Big Sky Tipi Holidays allow group bookings?

Yes, for bookings of three or more tipis there is a £150 security deposit.

Sorry, no vehicles on the camping field, there is a designated parking area for cars.

A note from the site themselves...

Over the 15 years since we began Big Sky Holidays it has been a delight to watch guests arrive and see friendships grow, often over a weekend but on occasions over a lifetime. It's a wonderful thought that many children, now grown up, will have (hopefully) happy memories of family holidays exploring the woods or days at the beach, whilst staying on our campsite.

With no end of daytime activities available locally and your evening spent sat around the campfire toasting marshmallows and gazing at the heavens, we hope to welcome you to make your own memories with us.

Things to do on site and in the Eastbourne area

A ten minute walk through Ancient woodland, or less than a five minute drive, will take you to Herstmonceux Castle and Observatory Science Centre. Home to stunning manicured gardens, a scenic moat and 300 acres of woodland, there is plenty to explore!

When the sun is shining, a trip to Pevensey Bay Beach (10 minutes) is a must. The peaceful, pebble beach is ideal for escaping the crowds, and great for taking a picnic, enjoying a dip or reading a book on a deck chair.

The buzzing town of Eastbourne is also within a 20 minute drive. Home to Treasure Island Adventure Park and the fun-filled Eastbourne Pier, there is plenty to do for kids. Learn about local history at Eastbourne Lifeboat Museum and see stunning artworks at Towner Eastbourne art gallery.
