Yurt - Owl YurtJun 2023

Freshwinds is a real find. We enjoyed every moment of our stay there and are looking forward to going back as soon as we can. From the moment we arrived, we were busy feeding lambs and exploring the farm. The hosts, Tim and Anne, are fabulous and involved our girls in duties around the farm which they both thoroughly enjoyed. Our youngest was all over the fairy tent and loved going for walks. The eldest helped bring in the donkeys and goats. The accommodation is fantastic and the way the yurts are situated is very private so that you feel like you are the only people there. The outdoor kitchen and dining area, private loo and shower, plumbed in gas and a boiler to make sure that showers are warm are a stroke of genius and make all the difference. Freshwinds exceeded all our expectations. We absolutely loved staying there and hope to be back soon.

Overall great campsite

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

Great campsite, loved the trail, amazing atmosphere, and no light pollution meant star gazing was amazing. Loved the fire pit, wash facilities are a bit tired, but will come again.

Offered us everything that we're looking for as a quiet, friendly rural retreat

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

An idyllic, quiet, sheltered setting, with generously sized pitches in a long field bordered entirely by woodland. Each pitch had its own fire pit and large bags of well burning firewood were available cheaply. Facilities included hot running water and two showers. The site struck a good balance between 'wild camping' and needful amenities, including a central play fort for the children and a couple of tree swings. We enjoyed a mix of weather and ground conditions remained good. We loved it there.

A magical place

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2023

We stayed with two kids. We really enjoyed the fairies walk and calm and beautiful surroundings. Really great place to go with small kids, lots of swings in the trees, a playground, cute animals, play area at the farm, lots of little walks you can do, a creek, ponds... We ended up extending our stay, because we loved the place so much. Would definitely stay again! Also: make sure to visit 'The Two Sawyers' close by for good food and drinks.

Very nice, peaceful and simple campsite out of the overloaded time. Lot of space for nature loving people and families - perfect! We missed nothing at all.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2023

We had a brilliant three nights camping at Freshwinds. We hadn't visited the site before and were really pleased with our choice. The pitches are really well-proportioned, and spaced, and the facilities (compost toilets, camp kitchen, warm showers) are as good as you'll find at any site, but with more rustic, no frills authenticity than you get at the bigger caravan sites. We stayed with our three-year-old who had a brilliant time making friends with the fellow campers (mostly visitors from the continent) and playing on the climbing frame. The walk up to the farm area is cute and the medium-length walk to the pub even better.

Beautiful, quiet, friendly, perfect!

Yurt - Owl YurtJul 2023

We just had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Owl Yurt at Freshwinds Camping. Our little family couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the gardens and the site. We can't wait to come back and explore the trails and ponds, swing in a tree or listen to the birds. Thank you.

Great place to stay

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2023

We had a lovely long weekend at the campsite. Perfect for a young family. Lovely jungle gym, tree swings and a little stream for the kids to play in. Kids enjoyed exploring the clean woodlands. We didn't get to see the fairy walk or farm, but will do it next time! The location is fab! Central to lots we wanted to explore - Camber, Rye, Winchelsea, Hastings etc. The campsite is very rustic (which we love) and I've only not given 5/5 for facilities and cleanliness because of this - dust, spiders and grass in the showers and toilets which is expected but was significantly noticeable. I'm not marking it down for this! But saving 5/5 for when I think it's exceptional such as the other criteria. Our only other comment would be to place a refresher of the campsite etiquette in the communal spaces. A group of guests did play music which was fairly disruptive the one evening and we did see a dog not on its lead racing around at one point (but were expecting a dog-free site). This isn't the site's fault - but we didn't feel like it was our responsibility to enforce "rules" and just wanted to relax. Thank you for the stay! And we will be visiting again and bringing friends.

Freshwinds was everything I hoped for

Shepherd's Hut - Shepherd's HutMay 2023

We had an amazing stay at Freshwinds. This is the place to be if you want a bit of peace and quiet. From the Shepherd's Hut, we had a lovely view of fields and trees, and to the right of us, there was a pond with a collection of trees. There are lots of things to see at the farm, little gardens, grottos, flowers, trees and views. We also met some of the animals who are very sweet. We went for lots of walks as neither of us drive, Guestling Green is absolutely worth a visit, such a beautiful place. The Shepherd's Hut was spacious, clean, light and well-stocked with utilities. There is power, water, a warm shower, gas and a compost loo, we never felt uncomfortable, the bed is comfortable and you have places to sit in, or out. Anne and Tim are kind and helpful people, they made our stay very comfortable. Thank you very much.
