Elan Oaks is a large, peaceful, year round camping site situated at the foot of a beautiful estate, close to the market town of Rhayader in Mid Wales. Here you'll have extra large hardstandings and plenty of room for tents of all shapes and sizes. Perfectly located to explore the Elan Valley by foot, bicycle or in your vehicle - it's ideal for fans of dramatic scenery, wildlife and places of historic interest. A warm Welsh welcome awaits!
Elan Oaks is a temptingly easy 3 miles away from Rhayader on the B4518 - just 5 minutes by car. Not only that, but a cycle track also runs right from the site. Suitable for caravans, motorhomes, and tents of any shapes and sizes, the site has a wide range of pitches. One option is a Certificated Location field, open seasonally for members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club only. You'll also find a field of hardstandings along with a traditional tent camping field, which are open all year round and for everyone - no membership required. All the hardstanding pitches offer 16-Amp electric, a personal water supply, grey waste, a satellite and Freeview connection, plus hardstanding for one car. Tent camping is a three acre large, flat open grass field. Elan Oaks is the perfect place to set up your base and explore this incredible area.
The main site is open year round, while the members only Certificated Location field is open from March until October.

Heading into Rhayader is an easy dawdle along the cycle/walking path which runs alongside the road and follows the river in. This will take 15 - 20 minutes by bike or 30 minutes on foot, but you'll forget all about your watch - thanks to the great scenery!
Heading west, the B4528 heads straight into the stunning Elan Valley Estate. A place of incredible natural beauty as well as industrial history. Listen to the pounding of Victorian era reservoirs and dams which supply Birmingham and the local areas. One of Wales' best kept secrets and a must see for fans of the great outdoors!
You'll find fishing in an idyllic setting along the river that runs at the bottom of the hill, so come see what you can catch!
The Elan Valley is perfect for walking, rambling, cycling, mountain biking, photography, bird watching and more. Have a peek in the visitor centre which gives visitors the history of the building of the reservoirs as well as a look at life before the dams were constructed.
