About the site

The site is situated in a quiet rural spot yet within a mile of the city of Salisbury, with stunning views of the elegant cathedral spire from the campsite. Guests can either drive to Salisbury where it is generally easy to park or it's an easy walk (50 mins) across the farm and down the ancient Old Shaston Drove. The campsite is natural and undeveloped. The large camping meadow does not have designated pitches, so you can choose your ideal spot on arrival and there is always lots of space to spread out! Why not choose to take the Town Path into Salisbury from Harnham, walking alongside the water meadows from where there are fabulous views of the cathedral, just as Constable himself painted. Salisbury Cathedral, the Cathedral Close and the Magna Carta must not be missed. Stonehenge is an absolute must and guests are never disappointed. You can either drive, take the Stonehenge tour bus from the train station or follow the cycle route you will find on the information board at the campsite. For beach lovers, the Jurassic Coast offers beautiful unspoilt beaches and fabulous walks. Fantastic walks and cycle trails direct from the campsite. Walk to the pub or into Salisbury itself across the fields and tracks. It's a working arable farm and there are also some sheep that you may encounter when out walking. Whilst the site welcomes children please note that it is a quiet site and that there are no play facilities/attractions for children.

Really lovely stay, can see the Cathedral from the field. Warm shower and clean toilets. Couldn't find a bin for rubbish, but just ended up taking it with us, so no problems. Overall really happy with the stay and would definitely return.

Pleasant and mostly peaceful campsite with some nice views and convenient location for Salisbury city centre and Stonehenge. There was some loud music in the distance on our second (Friday night) which I think was coming from an outdoor concert at the nearby Salisbury Racecourse which ended at about 11pm, so we still got a good sleep and some of the 80s/90s music they played we liked, so it wasn't too disturbing in the end. Friendly owner of the campsite too. And lots of free blackberries to pick!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

There were five of us plus our dog there for one night in our family tent. There are several walking paths around. For example, the pub and shop in the village is 2.5km away, and the path to Salisbury is 4km away, both easy. A large, slightly sloping meadow. However, it becomes relatively flat at the bottom, making it better for tents there. There is one shower and three toilets. Everything is very clean. The shower takes time to warm up. Since showering is more frequent in the morning, it remained cold for us. At 59 pounds, it was our most expensive site of the holiday. I think the basic fee of 22 pounds for a pitch including two people is fair. However, the fact that each child costs an additional 10 pounds and the dog 7 pounds makes the fees far too high, in my opinion, given the rather basic facilities. You have to take your rubbish with you. Dog waste bags are available for disposal. When washing up outdoors, your back is to the chemical toilet tank, which you can unfortunately smell. Conclusion: It was a lovely evening for us with a pub visit, and the weather was also on our side. But the cold shower in the morning, the smell when washing up, and the overpriced price for families unfortunately dampened it.
