Looking out over a peaceful pond and the owner's lush grounds, the shepherd's hut is ideal for a relaxing getaway. It's near to the market town of Malton known as "the Food Capital of the North". This bespoke hut is built on a vintage hay cart from the 1930s and includes all the creature comforts you could need. Its interior is open plan with a comfy bed for two, chic kitchenette and the luxury of your own en-suite facilities. It's toasty thanks to underfloor heating and includes handcrafted wooden surfaces. A well equipped holiday cottage is also available to rent.

Cheer the locals in a few friendly country pubs nearby and why not tuck in at local restaurants - you can burn it all off as you explore the beautiful Howardian Hills or go for walks down the banks of the River Derwent, a tributary to the river runs behind the hut.
Just ten minutes from here you'll find Castle Howard (looking just as good as it did in TV's Brideshead) one of the great palaces of Europe for over 300 years. Visit their live music events, tour the house and grounds or visit the garden centre and farm shop, and, of course, various cafes to tempt you with local delights.
Of course York is a real must-see, so spend a day wandering its beautiful minster, stroll beside the river or dive into some history at the Jorvik Viking Centre. It has all the shops you need for some retail therapy and if you fancy a day at the races, York Racecourse is ideal. You can use the local bus service, direct into the centre of York which runs twice per hour (150m from the hut).
Visit one of Malton's monthly food markets and pick up some delicious treats for dinner, or time it so you go to their annual market and spend they day roaming round and tasting the delights! Browse the attractive towns of Malton, Helmesley and Easingwold, or drink in the wonderful views from The Stone Trough (great pub). Less than an hour's drive will take you to seaside resorts like Whitby, Scarborough and Filey or even to the many attractions of the North York Moors.
