Why you'll love it at Hastings 1066

Family owned and operated, adult only site spread over two acres with onsite animals
Just ten minutes from St Leonards on Sea and Hastings, 15 minutes from picturesque beaches
About the site
Situated on the A2100 in the small Hamlet of Telham between Hastings and Battle, the site is ideally located for exploring East Sussex. Nestled just a 15 minute drive from glorious beaches like St. Leonards On Sea, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to days out!
The site offers just five 10m x 10m non electric grass pitches across its expansive two acres. Each pitch welcomes up to six guests, allowing tents only. Please note, as the pitches are large, if you're camping as a group of three or four small tents, you only need to book one pitch.
The adult-only site welcomes guests only over the age of 16. Being on a working smallholding means you can meet the site's many animals including horses and chickens, but this does therefore mean dogs are not allowed in the camping area at all.
Just over the road from the site is a wonderful pub called The Black Horse, perfect for evenings out enjoying a big meal and a couple of glasses of wine with just a short walk back to your pitch.
If you are looking for that traditional camping experience, the site has a range of fire pits to hire, great for toasting marshmallows. BBQs are also welcome, as long as they are raised from the ground.
Hastings 1066 is open from 15/03 to 30/10.

The site is located on Four Acre Farm, our family business which uses three generations of the family to help build and maintain. We have a passion for keeping poultry and working in the outdoors.
Non electric grass pitches for campers. Measuring 10m x 10m each pitch is suitable for three to four small tents. Please note, vehicles are not permitted on the pitch.
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesApr 2025
We camped with a group of 4, the campsite was simple but just what we needed, very close to Battle.
The friendly horses came to greet us by the fence when we arrived and Drew, the owner, popped by to welcome us. The composting toilets were clean and didn't smell, and there was plenty of toilet paper. We rented a fire pit which was ready for us with a pile of firewood.
Would stay again.
This is a basic campsite which is reasonably priced

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024
This is a basic campsite which is reasonably priced and with good, clean composing toilets and running water
We were the only people there on the Friday night of the bank holiday weekend and there were only two other tents there on the Saturday night. The campsite is pretty close to a busy A road which isn't ideal if you're noise sensitive as there is some traffic noise at night - but it's not terrible and I happily slept through it.
There's a pylon in the field, so it's not the most scenic but it's a pretty big field, so you can get quite a distance from it. No showers but the composting toilets were nice and clean. It was really nice to have lots of space in the field and not be crammed in with loads of other tents. It's a great location in terms of getting to Hastings/Battle and Rye really easily.
The best thing about it is that it's just over the road from The Black Horse pub which is a really lovely pub that was super welcoming and served some really good food and had a nice selection of drinks and generally a lovely atmosphere.
Wonderfully simple

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2024
Minimalist and as described. There are not many facilities as is clearly explained. I have given a 5 as the facilities that are there (compost loo & tap) are clean and work well.
Do pay attention to the directions to the site so you don't have to reverse down a single track lane like we did - entirely own own fault. Thankfully we were spotted by the site owner who called to redirect us.
The local cricket club was lively, but a pleasant & early closing kind of lively. We enjoyed the food in the traditional pub across the road and met the pub cat, a plus for me less so my partner.
There is a pylon in the field. It didn't bother us at all. It is an adult only site, so you will be spared the horror of a child trying to climb it. (Youngsters will be unaware of the brilliant but brutal UK public safety short on exactly this topic).
Plain and simple camping with mown pitches. A great location for exploring the South coast.
