About the site

This peaceful, adult only base combines the best of the quiet Oxfordshire countryside and the vibrancy of a working marina on the River Thames. Based right on the waterfront, guests can rent paddleboards, kayaks, canoes or day boats from the docks. It's also a handy choice for keen walkers, with direct access to the Thames Path. The site offers fully serviced hardstanding pitches, including some premium waterside pitches with scenic views. All pitches have electric hook up, water and waste, and offer space for a caravan with an awning, or a motorhome. A selection of luxurious one and two bedroom lodges can also be found onsite. Based just off the A4074, the site is in a great location to explore the local area. There's also a handy bus stop at the entrance, with the Thames Travel X40 bus service running directly to both Oxford and Reading. Dogs are welcome, with up to two pups permitted per pitch. BBQs are allowed, but must be raised off the ground.

Things to do on site and in the Wallingford area

It'll be no surprise to hear that the boating opportunities at the marina are the main draw here. Hire your own vessel, or rent equipment to try your hand at canoeing, kayaking and more. If you have your own boat, you can also moor it safely.

Keen anglers won't want to miss the chance to fish on the river, just make sure to have the right licences, with day passes available onsite.

For walking and cycling, the site has direct access to the Thames Path. Head downstream to the historic market town of Wallingford to explore the 11th century castle ruins and browse local markets (50 minute walk). Or walk upstream through open fields to Shillingford Bridge (30 minutes).

With a bus stop right at the entrance, it's very easy to use public transport here. Take the Thames Travel X40 bus service to Oxford to visit the historic university buildings, botanical gardens and range of shops and museums. Punting on the river is also not to be missed! For those with a car, the site is just off the A4074, so the rest of the area is easily accessible.

Other local attractions include:

  • Basildon Park (20 minutes)
  • Didcot Railway Centre (20 minutes)
  • Pitt Rivers Museum (30 minutes)
  • Reading (30 minutes)
  • Highclere Castle (45 minutes)
