About the site
Proud of its natural wildlife and credentials as a sustainable site, Palace Farm Camping is surrounded by the wooded valleys and mixed-use farmland that exemplifies Kent, the Garden of England. In addition to a grass field edged with hedges and trees for those wishing to bring their own camping gear, the site also boasts pre-erected bell tents. Each bell tent contains four mattresses, but can sleep two extra people at normal camping prices, and a dedicated picnic table. Cook boxes with all you need to cook basic meals can be hired. The mattresses come with fitted bottom sheet but you will need to bring a sleeping bag or quilt and a pillow for each person. Dogs are welcome on the site, but are not permitted inside or around the bell tents. Safety.
While on the campsite all vehicles should remain securely locked and the keys should not be accessible to children at any time. Drivers of vehicles should have a driving licence and be insured to drive the vehicle. If you are opening and closing car doors, think of others, and be as quiet as possible.
There is a 5 MPH speed limit on the campsite. This is a working farm and children must not be allowed to wander from camping field without ADULT supervision.
Pitches are 14 metres apart; tents must be pitched in front of the numbered marker. There should be 6 metres left between tents as a fire break, vehicles may be parked in this area. (Groups are allowed to pitch their tents closer as long as they are responsible for fire safety for their group). Fire extinguishers are provided at the toilet facilities.
The toilets are a NO SMOKING area. Cigarettes should be placed in the wall mounted cigarette bin on the field side of the toilets. Hot ashes or cigarette ends must not be put in rubbish bins please. Any hot ashes or cigarette ends must be put in the small galvanised metal dustbins provided by the bottle bins.
Gas or Charcoal BBQs are allowed provided they are well off the ground and are not in danger of catching vegetation alight particularly in dry weather. We do not allow the use of Disposable BBQs, they are not environmentally friendly, can easily catch vegetation alight and the grill edges are extremely sharp and have no protection, they can cause injury if accidentally kicked or trodden on and are dangerous when placed in a bin.
Palace Farm Camp Fire rules.
• Fires (or BBQs) must not be allowed to scorch or catch any grass alight, they should not be any closer than 3 metres from the hedgerow.
• A bucket of water MUST be placed between your tent and the fire and should be used in the event of someone burning themselves or to extinguish the fire. The fire must be supervised by at least one adult at all times, please be aware that small children may not understand fire and how dangerous it can be.
• ONLY LOGS OR LUMPWOOD CHARCOAL TO BE BURNED, NO BRIQUETTES OR COALS please.
• Do not rest hot pans directly on the grass.
• Do not empty ash anywhere other than the galvanised metal ash bin by the large recycling and waste bins.
• When you depart please leave the fire pit on your pitch with the ash, even if still hot we will collect later. Make sure that all items are together - fire pit and stand, grill and bucket.
• You are responsible for all your family or group so make sure they know and understand the rules.
• Anyone found not obeying the rules will be asked to leave immediately without a refund.
Gathering any firewood from the countryside or Campsite is not permitted.
DOG OWNERS - Have you told us that you have a Dog?
Your dog must be on a lead at all times whilst on the campsite. Please pick up any poo, if your children are walking your dog make sure they are able to do this also. You may throw your poo bag in the General Waste large wheelie bin.
The area below the shower block where the Bell tents are pitched is a dog free area and out of bounds for dogs.
Dogs are usually welcome in The Chequers pub, in the small bar (where bar meals are served) but not in the official dining area. Please check with staff before sitting down.
There are some lovely walks in this area, so please enjoy having your dog camping with you!
