About the site

Located right in the heart of Somerset, The Old Oaks is the ideal base exploring the county's many treasures with beautifully maintained pitches and grounds. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, fishing or just soaking up the peace and quiet, this adult only park is the place for you. Spread over 15 acres, the touring park and glampsite comprises five paddocks, ranging from 11 to 27 pitches or glamping accommodation in each. Having been developed in stages over the years, each paddock has its own unique character, but universal standards of quality. Larger than average, the park's level and landscaped pitches are divided by trees and shrubs, backing onto mature hedges. This ensures a sense of privacy and space, as well as providing a rich natural habitat for birds and other small animals. There's a range of pitching options, from fully serviced premier and superior pitches to standard electric pitches. Or for those who enjoy the outdoor life but don't fancy sleeping under canvas, there are six unique cabins for glamping, four of which are suitable for wheelchair access. There are also two luxury shepherd's huts and four mini cedar lodges, some featuring their own private hot tub. Previous winner of Overall Winner and Best Adult Only Site in the Practical Caravan Top 100 Awards.

VW-Type Campervan - Super Pitches (Walnut Terraces)Sep 2025

This place is like a spa. So clean and well maintained, quite safe and well placed to walk up the Tor or into town. Lovely friendly owners. Will def be back.

VW-Type Campervan - Super Pitches (Walnut Terraces)Aug 2025

Beautiful location and well maintained site with modern, spotless facilities. However it was just a bit of a weird place - very regimented. We had booked a superior pitch but were given a regular one. When we queried this with the lady on reception, she just shrugged her shoulders and said there was nothing she could do, and didn't offer any solution or refund on the additional price we'd paid. We stayed in the Walnut Circle and had a big pitch but it wasn't very private. We went to get breakfast at the pop up cafe and despite being advertised as serving until 10:30, we were told they finished at 10 when we arrived very hungry at 10:03. Lovely huge field for dogs to exercise off lead but bizarrely, they only allow two dogs at a time, as another resident pointed out to us when we tried to let our dog in for a run. Could be such a great site if they relaxed a bit!

Site's response

Hi Natalie, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience didn’t fully meet your expectations. Just to clarify a few points: the pitch you originally booked was a Super B pitch. (We offer Standard, Super B, Super A, and Premier pitches, but not “Superior.”) A few days before your arrival, we noticed a one-night gap on a Premier pitch and upgraded you free of charge. This is something we sometimes do to make the best use of our availability, and, as this upgrade was to one of our most popular Premier pitches, we hope it added to your stay. We’re also sorry you missed breakfast on the Monday. To confirm, our Breakfast Club runs six mornings a week (Monday to Saturday), from 1st April to 30th September. The times are 9–10am Monday to Friday, and 9–10.30am on Saturdays. This information is listed on our website and in the Welcome booklet. Finally, regarding the dog facilities: there are no restrictions on the number of dogs allowed in either the large dog field or the smaller dog walk. It sounds like you may have been given incorrect information by another guest, and we’re sorry for any confusion this caused. Thank you again for your feedback and we do hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back in the future. Best regards, The Old Oaks Team

A lovely campsite to visit Glastonbury
