Nice caravan park, had a lovely pitch with a great view, nice pool and on site pub.

Camp with family

The site is beautifully situated with breathtaking views. Highly recommended for adults. The restrooms lack storage space for clothes and shower accessories. They are not suitable for families with small children; there are no changing facilities, no playground, and the distance to the toilet/shower is far for small children and people with walking difficulties. The swimming pool is very expensive and not family-friendly. Translated from German.

Thank you for your review Nadja. We are always happy to move customers to another pitch, subject to availability, which are closer to facilities. Our swimming pool is a small leisure pool open to our customers and the public. We have the main pool and a small pool for small children and babies. Family change rooms, and baby changing stations are offered in the pool complex. Many families enjoy this facility. A one-hour swim each day of your stay, free of charge, is included in your pitch price. This information is included in our welcome packs for customers. Thank you again for your comments.

Beautiful location

Beautiful, off the beaten track, Cornish retreat site. Quite difficult to navigate the roads leading to the site in a large motorhome. The pitch was ok but the site was almost empty, so do not know why we were situated far away from the facilities. Did not use the bar/restaurant or other facilities such as gym and pool. The showers and toilets have seen better days, need a total refurb. Did not feel they were very clean. Not good when soles of feet are dirty after a shower when you dry them. If you wish to stay there, the on site cabins would be much better.

Thank you for your review Lynne. We are always happy to move customers to another pitch, subject to availability, if they are not happy of their location. Campsites are allocated specific pitches on the site for booking purposes and we cannot move them until arrival on the park. We always accommodate needs where necessary. I note your reference to the shower/toilet and will look into making it a better experience for customers.

Lovely situated site

Staff were great. Food looked amazing but there was not hardly anything left when we went across early evening, went to a place just down the road, food was amazing. Site was clean. Toilets and facilities are just too far away from where we were pitched. Had to take vehicle every time as disabled and could not walk that distance. That ruined our experience. But lovely place .

Hi Julie, thank you for your review. I'm sorry that your experience was as expected. Quite often, on arrival, customers will ask if they can move closer to facilities and we happily do this if there is availability. I hope this won't deter you from coming again.

Disappointed

No view at all from pitch we were allocated and way too long a walk to facilities, which were clean and adequate. All felt very dated.

Hi Jill, thank you for your review. None of our pitches offer sea views and this is on our marketing information. We can however offer customers, subject to availability and size of vehicle, another pitch in our Meadows area. These have far and reaching views across to Plymouth and beyond to Dartmoor. This area is also closer to the facilities. We quite often move customers to preferred pitches if available. Hope to see you again.

Spring break

A lovely stay. Nice, flat bays, great views and nice surroundings. Pubs great, nice people.

Convenient place to stay

Clean and tidy, but only one toilet and shower block which was some distance from pitch.

Fantastic

A fantastic site in a great location. It was close to the coastal path and there was a bus stop the near the bar and restaurant, which was really good. The staff were really friendly and helpful, I would definitely go back again.

Great stay in our new campervan

We live in Plymouth, so the Witsand Bay Fort is a really close and quick break location for us. We've never stayed before and along with a great experience at the campsite, staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the trek to the beach. Will definitely be back. P.S. the bingo was a lot of fun!

Lovely, relaxing and very quiet

Great campsite for our motorhome

Excellent place to stay with a fantastic restaurant and bar. Food and drink were both excellent.

Would not recommend this site for anyone

Checked out the video before booking as the place looked amazing. What a disappointment. Video suggested uninterrupted views, but there were views of hedges, as per pictures. Place is definitely not worth £42 per night per pitch. Over 40 pitches and only 2 toilets and 2 showers and 1 disabled shower in the men's, assuming the women's was the same. The video they have shows the showers in the pool area, which are only for use if using the pool. Not the site's fault but absolutely infested with slugs and snails. Spent hours every day cleaning these out the awning.

Great campsite for hikes along the coast

We stayed two nights at Whitsands Bay Fort with our motorhome on a hardstanding touring pitch. Campsite was fine and featured anything we required. Had a very scenic hike to St. Michaels Chapel and the beach.

A lovely location

In a lovely location, but I was disappointed that there was no sea view available from my motorhome. There was a high hedging on top of a wall. The site is located very close to walks alongside the site but unfortunately, the weather was very foggy so we were unable to walk it but I would definitely return. I think it's ideal for campers with children. It appears safe and there's a lot of things on site for them to explore. The restaurant/bar was very nice. Where we were camped was quite a walk to the toilet block, I do think they could do with another block on site. My motorhome sunk into the stones which made up the hardstanding when we arrived, so I think it could do with some 'Type 1' below the stones.

I will check the website you booked through to ensure they are correctly advising there is no view from pitches and our stunning views are from vantage points around the park. Will also ask maintenance to check the pitch you were on to see if an improvement can be made. Thank you and perhaps see you again, will add the sun to our Amazon basket ;)

Was okay

The campsite is set on an old fort. The reception people are not over friendly and did not tell you anything about the site, other than just giving you a leaflet with information on for you to sort out for yourself. When finding our pitch which had water and electric, it was time to find the toilets, showers and washing up facilities, which where so far away from where you camp that you have to plan when you need to go, this is a real put off when you have kids. There is an onsite indoor swimming pool which is really good and the main reason I booked as you can't guarantee on the British weather. There is no shop on site and the nearest shop is a good 20 minutes walk away down a massive hill, so be ready for the walk back up again. There is a lovely beach with is on a side of a cliff, so lots of down hill steps to get to it which you have to remember it is the same on the way back up, but when down there, what a lovely beach it is, with activities you can hire to go into the sea with. There is a pub on site where the food and drinks are in good supply but not a lot going on in the evenings, other than a quiz on a Wednesday night and music Friday and Saturday night. This is a place for old people for the fact that there is nothing other then the swimming pool on site for the kids to do.

Holiday

We pitched our caravan on a fully serviced pitch. It was excellent having our own facilities (drinking water, grey water waste, toilet waste and electric hook up). It was so quiet where we were and we could actually see a glimpse of the sea and headland in the distance. We had a delicious roast dinner at the restaurant which was great value for money and the staff were very polite and helpful. Cawsand and Kingsand are stunning. We'll definitely return again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Nice position

Nice position, pub and area great. Shower room good, but only one so our first pitch was really far from toilet. Unfortunately I think pitches not very well maintained, overgrown with weeds. Staff friendly and helpful. Stunning views of beaches and sea.

Great spot

Interesting site within the walls of an old fort. We chose a fully serviced pitch which was perfect for us. It was sheltered due to being in the moat! The pub and restaurant was good with great service. The pool looked nice although we didn't use it. Our only complaint was the showers and toilets. They were clean and serviceable, but there were only 2 showers and 2 toilets and they were a long way from our pitches! The site is building new lodges - I think they should build another toilet block nearer the serviced pitches (we were on pitch 44). The area was beautiful and this site is a great base touring the Rame peninsula.

Windy Whitsand

Two hurricanes in two days makes my review a little jaded. Having said that, at calmer moments, we did get to the swimming pool which was excellent. Not being able to shop on site felt more restrictive this time because of weather making it unsuitable to walk to the nearest shop. It is a popular site for good reason, and the buses do run every hour and on time.

Interesting and scenic place to stay

Very quiet when I stayed in January but the indoor pool and café/bar were still open. It's best to book a time for the pool in advance as they keep numbers down, which prevents it getting too crowded. The pool is lovely, quite big, and was warm and spotlessly clean. There are amazing views out to sea and a little path down to the beach from just across the road. You can also see inland towards Plymouth and Dartmoor beyond that. I had a fully serviced pitch with drinking water, grey water disposal, hook up and Elsan disposal, all on the very spacious level pitch.

Nice site and location. Pub and restaurant on site and a swimming pool.

Very accommodating site

We only stayed one night and were very impressed with the cleanliness and availability of facilities. The staff at reception were extremely accommodating with our requests.
