About the site


An adult only (18+) campsite on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. With easy access to the A30, it is ideal for stopovers as well as a base for exploring the landscapes of Devon. Guests can enjoy the countryside surroundings while still being within 20 minutes of Exeter and Okehampton. There is a range of grass pitches for campers and tourers. Backpackers arriving on foot or by bike can choose simple non electric grass pitches measuring 4m x 4m. Larger grass pitches measure 8m x 8m and are suitable for tents, campervans and caravans, with optional 16 amp electric hook ups available. Tourers can also choose from hardstanding pitches measuring 8m x 8m, again with optional electric. Fully serviced hardstanding pitches include 16 amp electric, fresh water and waste connections, whilst the hardstanding aire pitches measure 8m x 5m and have optional electric. Awnings, pup tents and cars are welcome on all pitches except the backpacker and aire pitches. There is free WiFi across the site, a licensed shop selling essentials and camping supplies, and a communal bothy with a pool table, seating, games, charging points, a fridge and freezer. A secure access system and CCTV also help guests feel safe throughout their stay. For walkers and outdoor lovers, the location is ideal. The famous Two Moors Way passes close by. It can be accessed either via a short walk along the road at the front of the park (there is no footpath/pavement) or via the footpath directly from the park, then along country lanes. Dogs are very welcome, with up to three allowed per pitch. There is even a secure dog exercise field onsite where four-legged friends can run freely off the lead. Raised BBQs are welcome for outdoor cooking, with a farm shop and butchers next door for local produce. Please note that open fires are not permitted.

The site opens on 20th March, grass pitches are available until 30th September, hardstanding pitches until 2nd November and then from 12th until 31st December. Pitches from £18/night for 2 people.

There are male and female toilet facilities, along with an accessible bathroom. The shower facilities are heated during the colder months, with access to shaver sockets in the men's and a hairdryer in the ladies'. Two washing-up areas are located on either side of the amenity block. Laundry facilities include a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities.

An onsite licensed shop is available for most essentials, including camping supplies. Free high-speed WiFi is available across the site. Guests can also make use of the Bothy, an information centre and camper room with a fridge, freezer, seating area, games, and charging points for devices. A 7kW EV charging point is also available onsite. Calor Gas and Campingaz sales are available.

The park features access control barriers to all pitches using ANPR technology, alongside CCTV coverage for additional safety and security. For guests travelling with pets, there is a secure dog exercise area where dogs can run freely. The area is equipped with poo bins and poo bags too.

Right next door is Oinkers Farm Shop offering local produce. For food and drink, The Old Thatch Inn and The Drewe Arms Community Pub are within a five minute drive. A local bus service stops directly outside the park entrance with services to Okehampton and Exeter.

Just ten minutes away, National Trust - Castle Drogo is a dramatic castle that sits high above the Teign Gorge and offers views across Dartmoor and the surrounding countryside. Visitors can explore the grand rooms, wander through the gardens and enjoy woodland walks along the river below.

For nature lovers, Canonteign Falls is around 25 minutes from the park. Home to one of England's highest waterfalls, this attraction has peaceful lakes, tropical-style planting and scenic walking trails.

The market town of Okehampton (20 minutes) is known as one of the gateways to Dartmoor National Park. It's a great place to stop for local shops, cafes and walks, with easy access to open moorland.
