About the site

This countryside site is a gateway to the West Pennine Moors, with Rivington Country Park on your doorstep, home to Go Ape, reservoirs, and the 1,200 ft peak of Rivington Pike. Well placed for a weekend away or longer touring stay, you'll have access to the M61 (10 minutes) for popular North West destinations, including Bolton, Wigan and Manchester. Park up on one of 22 spacious electric hardstanding pitches, suitable for caravans, campervans and motorhomes, with views towards Winter Hill and down over the West Lancashire Coastal Plains. Caravan rallies and Duke of Edinburgh groups are also welcome in a separate rally field. Set on a peaceful family run working farm with sheep, cattle and pygmy goats, the site offers a relaxed but secluded stay. It has also been recognised for its sustainability efforts, with a wind turbine providing power for the whole site. When it's time to refuel, the village of Rivington is just a 15 minute stroll away, where you can discover cosy cafes, a local brewery and several country pubs. Please note it's down a road with no pavement. Four-legged friends are welcome onsite, but please keep them on a lead. There's also a dog wash station, ideal for cleaning muddy paws after visiting the surrounding area. Sorry, campfires are not permitted here.

For essentials, there's a Co-op Food a ten minute drive away. When you're ready for a meal or something to drink, Village Green Tea Room is a 20 minute walk away, serving teas, light meals and snacks, while The Great House Barn is around a 30 minute walk away for cooked breakfasts and other food. Both are around five minutes away by car.

You will also find local pubs, including Yew Tree Inn, The Rivington, and Rivington Brewery Tap Room, within a five minute drive too.

Things to do on site and in the Bolton area

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area! The village of Rivington is just a 15 minute walk from the site, with a range of tea rooms, historical landmarks like Liverpool Castle, and endless rambling and nature walks.

Visit the popular Rivington Country Park, where you can tackle the 1,200 ft peak of Rivington Pike and enjoy views towards the Lake District and Isle of Man. Take a peaceful stroll along Rivington Reservoir and Anglezarke Reservoir, and don't forget your fishing gear, as fishing is permitted.

For something more adventurous while at the country park, visit Go Ape for a treetop adventure before settling down with a meal or drink at one of the local pubs.

The village of Horwich is five minutes away, where you can visit shops, restaurants and a leisure centre, or discover the town of Bolton, less than 20 minutes away, with attractions including Queen's Park and Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Archive.

For a bigger day out, Manchester is just 35 minutes away, with plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

Explore the Science and Industry Museum, uncover the city's footballing history at the National Football Museum, or wander around the Northern Quarter for independent shops, cafes and street art. You can also catch a show, enjoy a meal or explore the shops around the city centre.
