Great site, nice clean site with clean facilities and a quiet site. Large pitches are big enough for the large tents and still have lots of room.

A lovely campsite with a very chilled vibe. Perfect for those wanting to be away from the hustle of Keswick. It's about 15 minute drive to Keswick which has plenty on offer for all ages and abilities. The bathroom facilities are small and often you are in a queue. Only 2 toilets and 1 shower in the gents! But it's easy to make do with it if you're not fussed about waiting. Lots of walking available right on your doorstep with stunning scenery from every pitch on the site. I noticed there was hardly any children on our visit but there are good facilities for them, football pitch, table tennis, swing ball. Small shop on site stocked the basics and wood was £8 a bag, which lasted us the two nights. All in all, not a bad little site, we'll be back.
Great first camping stay!

This site is outside Bassenthwaite village up a single road then a track. The site itself is very basic but effective. There is an outside washing area and toilets. In the males there were only 2 toilets and one shower so I can imagine at peak times this could be busy. I was on a electric pitch but there were charging lockers for mobile phones and there was a washer on a honesty box. The only downfall for me is that you couldn't park your vehicle next to your tent which I understand the reasons why but because I was in a one man tent quite a few of my items were in the car.
Peaceful, well maintained campsite

Kestrel Lodge is a lovely Campsite with lots of thoughtful touches. We chose a pitch under the tees with the little stream down the bank behind us - it was really tranquil. We had our dog with us so found the doggy field really useful. Showers etc were really clean though there were only two female showers (plus one additional unisex shower) which could mean a very long wait for a shower if the Campsite was full. Little honesty shop had lots of useful bits and pieces.
Great stay (even with poor weather)

Great stay. Unfortunately, weather was really poor for both days but still had a great time. Great facilities, clean and hot water.
Everything but the weather was great

Picturesque site, well situated for a variety of picturesque walks and close to a lovely pub. Amenities are limited and site is definitely geared up for a quiet stay. Very family friendly and surrounded by beautiful countryside and farmland. Magical during lambing season.
Fantastic!

Very friendly hosts and a stunning location with views of the Cumbrian mountains and Bassenthwaite lake. Peaceful and rural but close enough to amenities including Bassenthwaite (Sun Inn do great food!) and Keswick is also only 20 minute drive away.
Highly recommended

I stayed here for 2 nights at the start of May. Upon arrival, the check-in process was smooth, I was left to choose my own pitch from any of the vacant ones, and so I chose one in the far corner that was quiet as I hoped. Each pitch came with a firepit, I didn't use it on this occasion but a nice feature if I was visiting again with anyone else. The honesty shop was reasonably priced and well stocked, and there was convenient access to the Cumbrian Way and towards Skiddaw. Definitely would consider staying again

A very friendly welcome from the owners in what was an amazing location for a campsite! Loved seeing all the animals, including a very friendly cat and some cute lambs. We loved how the site backed on to the Cumbrian way, we did a great walk from there. Don't miss out in a trip to the Sun Inn about a 20 min walk away from the campsite. Ate there both nights of the trip. We really appreciated the owners making sure the site remained a quiet space at night (some visitors thought it would be a good idea to play music after 9 and were quickly reminded of the rules) thank you for the lovely time we had.
Overall was a nice site, but could be slightly improved

Overall lovely campsite. There's a few areas that could have been improved like the cleanliness in the communal areas. Yes, it's a campsite and not a luxury hotel, but it could be improved. But would definitely recommend.

What a find! This is such a little gem of a campsite, fab views of Skiddaw. Really friendly and peaceful location. Facilities are clean. Lovely reception when we arrived. There were only a few other campers here when we stayed, but even in summer when it's busy I imagine the chilled vibe will be the same. Dogs on lead because there are some chickens roaming but not a problem for us. Cars are parked separately but you can drive your car in to unload, so packing up is easy! Really recommend for families and/adults! We'll be back.

Great site, great welcome, couldn't recommend more. Only downside is parking isn't the best, but there are a couple of small bays around. Other than that, one of the best we've been to, showers are hot, and the shop was good. Will definitely be booking again and I'll recommend this site to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful location. The staff were super friendly and helpful in explaining where all the facilities are. We took our dog who really appreciated the fenced off dog area. Can't wait to go back.

It was in a great location and very quiet. But, the owner made no effort to welcome or contact us. We rang her phone number as it said to do, but no answer. Was never checked on to so see if we were alright and to show us where anything was. Also, there was a shelter for rainy days, but this was in such poor condition, it was so leaky with water, it was hardly worth it.
Site's response
Hi Rob, I am so sorry you felt like this. I sent you a text explaining where everything was and to make yourself at home when you arrive. I also sent an email with a map of the site and an email explaining that due to a family emergency, I won't be around but to contact me if you needed anything and the neighbours were available to help if needed. Admittedly looking into it I can now see that final email failed to send, so I can only apologise you never got this explanation, however I did not get a phone call or reply from you, so I assumed everything was ok. I agree about the shelter it is in need of some repair, we bought the site only a few months ago and it is one of our first winter jobs to do so I can only apologise it wasn't fixed for your arrival. I hope this hasn't put you off staying with us again, where you will certainly get a warm welcome when I've not had to rush off for a family emergency. Best wishes, Cassy

A nice, fairly quiet campsite. We had a party of cyclists arrive on our second night who were a bit noisy. My grumbles are that I didn't realise that cars would be parked away from our pitch. It wasn't a massive walk, it just would have been more convenient to have it closer for storage. I've given 4 stars for cleanliness as I felt the toilets and showers could have been better, signs of mildew and lots of cobwebs. Good points were that we were warmly welcomed and a well stocked honesty shop. Fire pits were a lovely touch as was the covered area with picnic tables. Local pub is recommended but book early as it's very popular. I would stay at the site again, very handy for Keswick and Northern Lake District.
