We chose a premium large plot but our tent only just fit on it and was very close to the tents on either side. Other plots seemed more spacious and the views were lovely. Facilities were clean and plenty of hot water.

Howgill Lodge is an absolute Gem of a site. Well laid out and terraced so that our pitch (55) looked out over the beautiful dales rather than another tent. The toilet block was very clean and the showers were lovely and hot. Best of all are the wonderfully and varied walks available direct from the site. There was s river walk to the amazing Craven Arms, do try the steak n ale pie and beef dripping chips if you are a carnivore. Or try bouldering up Trotters Gill and over the open moor. Then finish off at the Craven Arms (there's a pattern emerging). If you want a breakfast treat one day, just down the lane is the Brownie Barn (oh and they do truly fantastic award winning brownies). Alternatively, you can grab freshly baked pastries from the on site shop.

Lovely spot, nice people but terrible internet. I know lots of people want to be away from the internet while on holiday but I have to work an hour or two a day! Hard here.

Lovely quiet location with pitches set apart nicely, allowing a degree of privacy for tents. Facilities were clean and tidy with a good washing up area and fridge-freezers available to use. Children loved the number of rabbits living in and around the site, and there is a small adventure playground for children to stay entertained.

Absolutely brilliant campsite, incredible views, easy to check-in, friendly staff, spotlessly clean, amazing facilities, beautiful Alpacas, and also hot croissants, pain au chocolat and coffees in the mornings. We will definitely be back!

We can't speak highly enough of Howgill. It surpassed all our expectations. The toilets and shower blocks are immaculate, the pitches are very big and all have their own picnic table which makes such a difference. The location is so serene and the views are beautiful. This is just what we needed to unwind. We did the recommended walks to Simon's seat and valley of Desolation as well as a trip to Bolton Abbey. Absolutely wonderful! Will definitely return.

A stunning location for an excellent first time in a campervan. The pitch was spacious and easy to reverse into, I appreciated the picnic table too. The facilities were more than expected, clean and well maintained. The staff on reception were all friendly and very helpful. It was lovely to see rabbits hopping around in the early morning. The site is well placed for several walks, without needing to move the van, and the information about the area was very useful.

The best campsite we have stayed at during our holiday. The site had very clean and modern facilities, a beautiful view from the campsite and a very nice atmosphere as well (due to the very friendly staff). The fresh coffee and pastries in the morning are the cherry on top. There were a lot of beautiful walks start from the campsite itself, no need to go far.

Great campsite - the extras made it better - rent a fire pit with logs, picnic benches, mini shop.

Howgill Lodge Campsite is in a lovely location but the roads and track to reach it are tricky! The facilities are good and the view from the top pitches is excellent. There are plenty of places to visit nearby. Plenty of pubs and places to eat.

Nice clean campsite in a great location. Nice walk to nearby villages and river walks on the doorstep. The facilities are really good, although it can be a struggle for toilets as a few were out of service on our stay. Wasn't a problem but did mean we had to wait a little. Will definitely return.

The site is well kept, though the access "road" (which serves other businesses) is in poor condition. Signage to the site itself could be improved - don't make the mistake, as I did, of thinking that Howgill Farm is connected to the site! The reception staff on site were very friendly and helpful. My only minor grumble is that the toilet and shower facilities nearest to where we were pitched were closed off from Sunday morning and unavailable for the rest of our stay. I assume this was done as many campers were only there for the weekend. However, aside from us, there were still around nine tents (approx 20 people) who then faced a bit of a trek to the toilet block near to the entrance of the site. Not a massive issue, but hardly convenient, especially through the night. The café adjacent to the site (Brownies) is really worth a visit for either breakfast, coffee and cake or pizza in the evening. The Craven Arms (lovely 30min walk) is absolutely brilliant and now in my top five of all pubs! We will be back!

It is a simply stunning campsite, impeccable facilities, toilet and shower block were so clean, the site itself is very tidy. It is ideally placed for numerous walks in this stunning countryside just over an hour from Leeds. My only niggle is that Pitch 12 we were on is a little bit on the wonk, even with levelling ramps, but the terracing they have used for the pitches means everyone gets a great view unblocked by any other vans or tents. Exceptional campsite and will come back.

We took our 3 year old daughter for the first time camping and what a wonderful experience she had! The site was excellent and the facilities, I can not fault. The pitching area was flat and with a great view. Unfortunately, the area had been used a lot, so a lot of the grass had died and left a bit of a mud patch, which wasn't ideal to pitch on top of especially as we were forecast for heavy rain. Luckily, we had a separate ground sheet.
Lovely, well maintained site

We had a great time here on the Howgill Lodge site, facilities were excellent. Road access was not the best for caravans and larger motorhomes. As lovely as it was, we would not visit again due to the narrow and very steep country lanes.
