About the site

Set on the peaceful edge of the Norfolk Broads, we'd love to welcome you to The Wildings Elms Meadow Campsite, our small, family-run eco campsite offering spacious meadow pitches and boutique glamping in Norfolk, close to the Suffolk coast. We created The Wildings to be the kind of place we would want to stay ourselves, quiet, uncrowded and surrounded by nature. With just nine large grass pitches and three glamping stays, there's plenty of space to relax. Each pitch is generously sized with optional electric hook up and bordered by rewilded meadow to give you privacy and that wonderful feeling of being immersed in the countryside. We know that good facilities matter, so our shower and toilet block is modern, clean and finished to a high standard offering real comfort while keeping our eco-friendly, low-impact approach at the heart of everything we do. If you're looking for glamping in Norfolk, we have three cosy options. The Bumblebee Pod is perfect for a romantic glamping break near the Broads, with a comfortable double bed, kitchenette and dining space. Our shepherd's huts, Dragonfly and Foxglove, offer boutique glamping accommodation with outdoor seating, fire pits and private designated shower rooms, ideal for couples wanting a peaceful Suffolk glamping getaway. We're perfectly placed for exploring too. You can hire a boat in Beccles, spend the day on the beaches of Southwold, or go crabbing in Walberswick are all within easy reach of the campsite. Families and dogs are very welcome. Above all, we want The Wildings Elms Meadow to be a place where you can switch off, slow down and reconnect — whether that's around a fire pit under the stars or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of the meadow. Please note that to protect the meadow and keep the site feeling natural and car-free, you can't drive onto most pitches. Onsite facilities include six toilets, six showers, washing up, charging facilities, a camp kitchen, WiFi and a small play area. Fire pits are also available to hire onsite.

There's a small honesty shop onsite selling fire supplies and snacks, or alternatively stock up on groceries in Beccles where there's a Lidl, Tesco Extra and Morrisons. For good pub grub, The Wheatacre White Lion is a 45 minute walk away and for a quick drink The Toft Monks White Lion is a 15 minute walk away.

What a relaxing and peaceful little campsite - a true gem! The owners have clearly been very thoughtful about the services provided and the planting of the site - not a wasp or a mosquito in sight, but plenty of birds and life in the large pond. I especially liked that the bathroom facilities weren’t the typical ‘shower block’ or ‘wet room’, but individual mini shower rooms with toilets. It felt more homely that way. Having a microwave and a fridge on site meant it was practical for having a little one (storing and heating milk etc), plus gave us options for cooking like whacking a baked potato in the microwave as a side. So many fairy lights in the evening gave the place a very magical feel and the play space for the kids was hugely welcomed. Thank you for letting us share your space - we had a wonderful time and hope to be back before too long!

Having been campers previously (although not here) this was our first glamping experience and it did not disappoint! All the experiences we enjoy of camping by having peaceful outside space and a midnight trek to the bathroom, without having to sleep on a blow up bed and pack away a tent at the end! Thanks guys - we'll be back!

What time is check-in and check out at The Wildings Elms Meadow?

Check-in is from 1pm until 8pm for camping and from 3pm-8pm for glamping. If you are going to be delayed please let the site know. On your last day, departure is due before noon for camping and by 10am for glamping.

Is The Wildings Elms Meadow dog-friendly?

Yes, dogs are welcome here! Up to two dogs are permitted to join you, please note that there is an extra charge for bringing dogs. Do note that they should be kept on the lead at all times and not left unattended. Breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa are not permitted.

Does The Wildings Elms Meadow allow BBQs and campfires?

Of course, it's all part of the camping experience - although do ensure they are raised off the ground and open fires are in raised fire pits. Please ensure that you keep a fire pit a minimum of 3m from any structures and ideally on top of the slab provided. The site also asks that you be mindful of wind direction and long grass, and put fires out before bed (watering cans can be found by the shower block). There is a metal bin by the shower block for you to empty ash into. Wood must be purchased onsite.

Does The Wildings Elms Meadow allow group bookings?

The site is aimed at families and couples and therefore the site doesn't accept group bookings - this includes hen and stag parties, sorry.

Does The Wildings Elms Meadow have a quiet time or noise policy?

Yes, quiet hours are between 9pm and 9am.

Can I bring an awning, gazebo or pup tent with me to The Wildings Elms Meadow?

Yes, one of each may be brought with you for a small extra fee. If you are bringing an awning, gazebo or pup tent please ensure that you add this onto your booking.

Can I park near my pitch at The Wildings Elms Meadow? Or Is there parking adjacent to the pitch?

Parking isn't available by your pitch but there is a car park just a short walk away from the accommodation. Please avoid bringing more than one car and please park considerately as the car park can get busy during certain times of the year.

What amp is the electric hook up at The Wildings Elms Meadow?

The grass pitches have an optional 10 amp hook up, to use the electric hook up there is an extra fee on top of the pitch price.

Are bedding and towels included at The Wildings Elms Meadow?

Bedding and towels are provided in both the glamping pod and the shepherd's huts.

How does the honesty shop work at The Wildings Elms Meadow?

If you want to hire or purchase anything from the honesty shop, please write down what you have purchased on a form and pin it up on the notice board in the kitchen. You can settle up before you leave, there is an honesty tin and bank details in the communal kitchen, or if you would like to pay by card the site owner can pop over to your pitch with the card reader.

A note from the site themselves...

We are the Connor family, we live in the main house at The Wildings Elms Meadow. We spent much of our early career working full on jobs in London but after losing a close loved one, we decided to pack it all in and brought a campervan.

For six months, we drove through 18 European countries with our 6 month and 3 year old daughters. A kind of cathartic journey where we could process the grief and reassess what was important.

During that journey, we parked up for the night on farmers fields, in woodlands, campsites, beaches and city centre car parks. We were exposed to the most magical places and experiences.

People opened their homes and hearts to us in a way that we didn't expect, exposing us to the beauty of humanity. Over time, we built a dream of setting up a small intimate, camping/glamping site that offers a natural space for people to slow down, reconnect with each other and nature. The Wildings Elms Meadow is us putting that dream into practise!

We are environmentally conscious and this runs through everything we do from recycling facilities, refilled toiletries, rewilded areas. We look forward to meeting you and offering a magical place for you to create your own special memories.

The site is right on the fringes of The Broads National Park, perfect for hiring a boat in Beccles (5 minutes), paddleboarding in Wroxham (40 minutes) or just enjoying the local wildlife.

Southwold, a pretty seaside town, is a 25 minute drive away and has pretty beaches as well as being known for being the home of literary figures such as George Orwell.
