Great site

Great site and good location for us

Great stay

Although we had read some unhappy reviews about an unfriendly attitude from staff - we found the total opposite to be true. Everyone was courteous and very helpful. As for other comments on it's proximity to a busy road, that had been warned before we booked, and yes, we could hear traffic from our pitch but it did not at all spoil our stay or cause any concern at all. We would definitely recommend.

Too much noise from the A66

Too much noise from the A66 and parties until early in morning. Not recommended if you want a relaxing, peaceful and calm stay. We opted for a electric pitch for our tent. The pitch wasn't anywhere near level and the noise from the A66 was horrendous. The traffic hurtles by literally a few metres away. The touring field seems to be entirely non-touring customers so it was caravans with awnings everywhere. Facilities were clean but the septic tank outside the toilet block was terrible, the whole time we stayed. There was a party going on until the small hours and no sign of any wardens to ask them to keep quiet. The photos make it seem idyllic but the experience is different. I think we will give this site a miss in the future and won't be recommending it to our friends.

First night ever camping

It was our first night ever camping with 2 kids. They loved it, especially the farm animals. Staff were really helpful too. We had a slow puncture on the way there, we just managed to make it through the gates before it went completely flat and we didn't have a spare tyre. 1 of the staff came and helped us fix it he even went and got 1 of his mates to come and repair the hole in the tyre. They went above and beyond for us we can't thank them enough. He even came and showed us where our pitch was and showed us how everything worked. The only thing is it's close to the A66, so there is a little bit of noise coming from the cars. Other than that, it was a really good experience for our first time camping. We will definitely be going back.

Convenient site

Lovely site, shower and toilet block very clean. Conveniently situated for our needs, just off A66, traffic noise was not too bad.

A great park

This is a great park that is central to many attractions. The value for money is Ok. However, the metered electric can be high if the weather turns cold. The mini-shop, restaurant and gift shop are good value for money and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Although the shower facilities are spotless, we found that you have to run off a fair amount of cold water before the hot water kicks in. We found it odd that there were no recycling facilities?

Thorpe Farm Centre

A great campsite, the staff were very helpful. There were several pubs/restaurants nearby.

Quick stop over

Our quick 1 night stopover at Thorpe Farm was meant to be a well needed break in between our travels. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible, hard rain and very windy so not great to take a walk out. The farm shop was extremely well stocked with everything you could imagine from necessities, to gifts and amazing food. There is also a reclamation shop, wow, we spent ages browsing. Staff was super friendly in both areas. A huge field area with caravans in situ in the middle, we were the only campervan and were put on the outside by ourselves. This, we realised very quickly, was right next to the noisiest dual carriageway we've ever heard. Our nights sleep didn't really happen due to the extreme noise. Beautiful site (shop etc) but unfortunately, will not stay again due to the traffic noise.

Excellent site and location

Lovely, quiet, peaceful site - modern, clean, well kept facilities. Handy shop with variety of goods. Disappointed in lack of Wi-Fi and that the café closes so early (they do provide a take away menu in the evening). Staff in the shop and wardens were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to others and would happily go back.

Great facilities but noisy

The pitches for tents and motorhomes are right next to the A66 - didn't get a wink of sleep.

Nice site - great farm shop

Lovely site and a well stocked farm shop - only downside was: the grass pitch wasn't ideal for capturing any sunlight as was backing onto a woodland which shaded the area for most of the day. We were huddled around a camp fire whilst others had the glorious sunshine. Loved the idea of offering takeaway food on the Friday and BBQ on the Sunday. However, we were fully stocked up on food so didn't get to partake.

Clean site

Visited farm shop and nice products. Washing facilities clean alongside the site. The biggest problem we had was the noise from the A66, as the plot of grass was directly behind this and only sheltered by some trees which sadly, did not cut out the majority of the noise. Had we realised this, we would never have booked a night on the site.

Night away with the grandchild

Nice site, shame it's on top of the A66, very noisy all day and through the night. To be fair, it actually states that on there listing. I am not complaining as I was aware, but didn't realise how noisy I would be.so I would go back to it.

One night only

Stayed for one night as a last minute getaway with my two young lads. The shop was fantastic plenty of things to grab if required, we had a take away from the on site restaurant which was fast and tasty and the service generally over our brief stay was great. Furthermore, the dog walk around the animal paddocks was a nice stroll for our family and pooch. We will be back.

Fantastic place to stay

We've just have a beautiful 2 night stay and was fantastic. Great for all the family also the dogs. Beautiful views and lovely walks. All round fantastic place to stay, definitely recommend and great value for money.

Amazing

Just back from an amazing break. Staff are so friendly, campsite is well thought out. Food in restaurant is delicious, totally recommend the cheesecake. Can't wait to stay again.

Clean, tidy and welcoming.

We were pleasantly surprised by the neat and clean presentation of the campsite. We had booked the campsite with our 2 grandchildren aged 13 and 16 and were pleased they enjoyed the short stay, even although facilities for older children were limited. Having a designated walking area for dogs was very helpful and we found the washroom facilities to be very clean. We missed the chance to try coffee and a scone in the café but it looked inviting! Thank you, we will be back :-)

No problem. Very nice clean site. Didn't see any animals. Lovely farm shop - scotch eggs to die for. Lovely café, prices not too bad. Staff nice.

Lovely park

Lovely park, very clean amenities, although chemical disposal a bit smelly. Nice pitches and water at pitch.

Good locations and pitches

Spent 2 nights on this site and had a pleasant experience. We arrived late on the Friday and the site were very accommodating to our late arrival and the warden who met us out of hours was friendly, helpful and had all the details of our booking. The pitches on the site are large and the grounds are really well kept. Was initially concerned around the electric meter prior to arrival but really simple to use by tapping the prepaid card, which the warden brought with him when we arrived. The toilet and shower block seems to be brand new and everything was clean and tidy throughout the day/night. Site is located very close to the A66 but this is clearly stated prior to booking so no surprises and we knew what we were signing up for. There are great walks starting from the park and loads of space around for the dog! The site does have a chemical disposal point, but nothing specifically for grey waste, as well as seemingly no recycling point, which was the only disappointment.

Brilliant weekend away

Fantastic site, will definitely be back. Friendly staff, lovely and clean. Myself, my partner and little boy had a lovely weekend 😀🙌

Last night in caravan

Very pleased with site toilets and showers were spotless. This was our last night in our caravan sadly selling.

Great facilities and location

Very modern and clean facilities. On-site shop and restaurant are well stocked and reasonably priced. The site is very secure and safe, warden on-call all of the time. Plenty to do in the surrounding area, Raby Castle and Deer park is a must.

Mini break

Perfectly situated for Barnard Castle. We would like to visit again when activities are available with our grandchildren. All staff very helpful but it was a bit noisy from the main road alongside.
