VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 Good location for walks and the village of Birchover. 2 nice pubs within 5 mins walk, which served good food (Make sure you book as it gets busy). The views/backdrop are stunning.
The one negative was our pitch was on a slant. Note to self, purchase some wheel balancing ramps.
On the whole, we had a really nice weekend, plus the weather helped. Tony - 27th-29th Sept.
Lovely site, well worth a visit Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 Excellent site, very clean, plenty of walks from the site. The Druid Arms is well worth a visit, excellent food.
Fantastic place to stay Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 A lovely site, great location and a helpful team. All of the facilities are immaculate.
There are two pubs within walking distance, we had a lovely meal at the Druids Inn, which had a log burner lit, so it was lovely and cosy.
We have booked an extra night at the campsite and we feel it's good value. Thank you. Mary and Ian.
Excellent Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 Would definitely stay again.
Solo stay at Barn Farm Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 Staff left you alone, but were very friendly and helpful when needed.
Campervan stay Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Sep 2024 Brilliant stay with easy access in a beautiful location.
Lovely campsite in a great location Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 Barn Farm is a lovely clean site in a great location. It is not too large and it felt quite private.
I camped with two dogs and they were made welcome. There are lots of trails very nearby both long and short which was ideal as we could walk to them.
There were a couple of pubs very nearby too. The site was very well kept, clean and had good facilities. I'll definitely be returning in the future.
Lovely site, clean and quiet. Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 Lovely site, quiet and clean. Good to see they still cater for Duke of Edinburgh students, although I guess it wont be so quiet when they are on site!
It was a short walk to the pubs, and there were lots of walking routes from the campsite.
Busy site but well equipped to manage Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 Beautiful views. Busy site when we stayed due to an event but the facilities were sufficient to cope. Lots of showers available and well stocked on all the other facilities.
Great location for walks and access to the Peak District with Bakewell a few miles north. Will definitely return.
Beaut stay! Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 The lady that we met was extremely accommodating, as we were unaware of what we needed to book with a tent box, and she talked us through it and moved us fields with no hassle.
Location was perfect with beautiful views. We had an early wake up call Saturday morning with the breast cancer awareness walk (Coppafeel) taking off from that campsite and we were unaware. Nothing too major though and will definitely book to stay there again!
Beautiful campsite, excellent location Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 This is probably the most well-kept campsite I have been to - incredibly clean and the pitches and fields are immaculate (without feeling clinical).
The views are incredible, staff friendly and helpful, and the location is fantastic. Some beautiful walks nearby and a good pub! Would highly recommend.
Our stay Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 Nice site and area with 2 pubs close by and only short distance to towns, some good walks nearby.
There was a charity event on in one of their fields which they didn't say would be starting at 6:30am on the Saturday morning which was a bit loud, but only lasted the one day and was not on their events website.
Otherwise, a good little site which I will be using again.
Great stay Recommends site
Large Tent - Family Playground Field Non Electric Pitches (Field 4) Sep 2024 Very nice site with excellent facilities.
Noisy event ruined our weekend Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 The reason I've given a poor score is there was a event on, and at 6am they were playing music full blast. This was not advertised and I wouldn't have booked had we have known.
Fabulous site in a brilliant location! Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 This site is in a lovely location at the top of Birchover village. It's a huge site with vast fields for events and also a large camping field. There are 2 areas of hardstanding pitches, one quite large, which we opted not to go on as the pitches were all very sloping. The other area is just next door, with just four pitches and facing the camping field. We found the pitch quite level and the facilities were only seconds away.
When we were there, the site was hosting a charity event on the main field which meant there was a lot of activity as marquees and a stage were put up, but it was interesting to watch. The 'mega marathon' the entrants were taking part in kicked off at 6am on the Saturday morning, so we were woken by the loudspeakers as the groups were given their countdown before the off!
There are plenty of showers and toilets located around a courtyard near to the reception. All facilities were clean, even with the hundreds of extra guests they had to accommodate.
In the village there are two pubs, only a few minutes walk away. We tried both but much preferred the Druid Inn at the edge of the village. Would fully recommend their Sunday lunch, absolutely delicious, with loads of thick juicy roast beef, freshly cooked veg and lots of it. There is the 172 bus service which was very reliable to take you into Bakewell or Matlock, our journey to Bakewell took the 'scenic' route so we got to see so many quaint, tiny villages! If you walk to the top of the camping field, you come out on the bend of the road that goes out of the village. From here, you will find the footpath that takes you to the Cork Stone and the Nine Ladies stone circle - fabulous walk!
From our pitch, we had views across the dales and as we were blessed with sunny weather, each morning we woke to beautiful sunrises.
This site is fabulous, very well maintained with a rustic charm - would definitely recommend.
Beautiful location Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 Stunning location for walking. Great pub 5 minutes walk, Druid Inn.
As it was end of season it was very quiet and shop and reception not manned. Pitch was roomy, electric hook up. Alpacas and lovely Jacob sheep, peacocks and cows! Would to come back in the spring.
Loved it - stayed 3 nights, 2 people and a dog! Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 Amazing scenery, beautiful walks, quiet nights.
Friendly staff, very helpful and always around when you need them and the on site shop has everything you need for camping. Cleanliness of toilets and shower rooms was spotless every time. We didn't use the games room but for kids, that looked so much fun!
Totally recommend to every camping family. We will definitely be going back! And the peacocks there were friendly and beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and our dog enjoyed himself too!
Thank you Barn Farm x
Brilliant! Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 We've just had 3 nights in the wettest, windiest weather, but had a great stay at Barn Farm. They've thought of everything, lovely facilities and in an ideal spot for Rowtor Rocks and other walks from the campsite.
Thanks so much Barn Farm team!
Friendly and peaceful Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 This was our second visit to Barn Farm, we will definitely be returning. The facilities are great, the location is lovely. Our daughter and our friend's son enjoyed the park, games room and seeing the animals.
Very well kept site Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 Very clean toilets and showers. Not many level pitches so take ramps and some pieces of wood to level up. Nice site shop which had enough food and camping items.
There's 2 pubs in the village which are very good and do food.
Nice walks nearby Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 Nice, quiet place, well equipped. Nice walks nearby.
Disappointed Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2024 Buses to Matlock 9 miles away, very big 2 hour gaps. Ours didn't turn up to bring us back, and it's the only service. We had to wait 2 hours for next one with no information!
Shop on site felt was very understocked, as especially as there's no shop in village. It could stock food essentials.
Toilets and Showers very clean. Nice surroundings and views, alpacas and peacocks were nice to see. Red Lion one of 2 pubs there, closes Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Little else to do, so as you would have to travel out, don't rely on the bus.
Good Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Sep 2024 Overall, a good quality stay, but I do have a mixed opinion on this campsite.
The site itself is very picturesque and the toilets and showers are clean, no issues with sanitation here. However, the shop was closed the whole time, despite its opening times stating otherwise. I do understand that it was the end of summer (September 2nd) but never stated that its operation was dependent on business, unlike the bar and food trucks which had been stated to not be open if it wasn't peak season.
To add, the camping field was on a slope so challenging to sleep at times. Despite this, we did enjoy our stay very much and the local area including walks was good.
Beautiful location Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Aug 2024 Fantastic site. Great welcome from the owner. Lovely to see peacocks and llamas. Will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.
Weekend with friends Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2024 Campsite is on a hill, pitches slope so you need to use ramps.
