Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Lovely small friendly campsite. Relaxing with good facilities and a nice area for chilling out. A small on site shop selling basic items with tea / coffee to be purchased. Kettle and microwave that is useful when camping (not everyone has hook-ups). Not far from the lovely village of Clovelly and other tourist attractions. I hope to be back next year, still lots to explore.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Spacious and relaxed site, with great facilities, including laundry, relax room with kettle, microwave, charger, a shop with basics and access to tea/coffee/utensils for walkers. Really appreciated that hikers were in a separate field so we can come and go as we want - a thoughtful addition. Great stay.

Trailer Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

A great friendly site...sadly missed the pizza social night on the Saturday, so will have to come back again. Clean and tidy site, well maintained. Heads up to take physical £1 coins for the shower and cash for the little shop (I'm not that organised so never have cash). Only improvement I could suggest is a sink area separate from toilets for face washing/teeth cleaning. Loved our stay though and a great location.

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Very noisy road day and night. Only one shower and two toilets for male and female the same and you have to pay £1.00 to use the showers. It states in the reviews that the owners of Roey's can collect you from Clovelly village, plus I was told by the members of staff at Clovelly village that the owners would pick us up. I phoned the owner and even though I informed him that I was disabled, he still refused to pick us up and no taxis available. We only stayed the one night instead of two due to having to walk back from Clovelly and a poor night's sleep due to traffic.

Nice and easy to find

Lovely couple who owned the campsite and on Saturdays they ask who wants pizza as the have a pizza oven onsite. Toilets and showers were cleaned daily, £1 for 5 minutes in the shower.

A lovely basic campsite. Ideal for a couple of nights stay. Great little shop and the honesty box was a good choice. The offer of pizza was a lovely option. Having plenty of toilet roll, paper towels soap and hot water supplied was a bonus. Even better if the toilet/shower and washing up block was a little bigger.

Lovely remote location

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Unfortunately our trip was cut short due to an accident. However, the site is tidy and the host was very helpful. We felt the site was a bit too remote for us being a motorhome with limited transport options. We'd recommend it friends who wanted to visit the area.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Great campsite, clean and tidy and very spacious pitches. Owners couldn't do enough for you and always happy to assist. Site is near a road and has chickens, so light sleepers might want to have ear plugs, but we haven't found it a big issue and have stayed there for a few years now. Pizzas were available on Saturday evening and a small self serve honesty shop is very handy would definitely recommend.

Large Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

The couple who own the site are such lovely people, extremely helpful and so friendly. The husband makes pizza, delicious. It's very clean and there is a little shop with milk bread etc. Best to bring provisions TBH as shops are very few and far between. Location wise the beaches aren't to faraway and beautiful.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

The people who run this site are really helpful and friendly. They keep the site clean and it's great to have a small shop with essentials such as milk and bread (and a kettle). They also do takeaway homemade pizzas at the weekend. The toilets and showers are clean but very cramped - only 2 toilets per gender so can get busy. Also you have to pay £1 for a 5 minute shower which is okay but you have to press every 10 seconds and sometimes the water pressure is low. It's in a good location for Clovelly and surrounding area but right next to the A39 so quite noisy. However, the pitches are spacious and there's a good atmosphere on site, plus you can have fires which is always a bonus!

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Amazing spot! Highly recommend. Enough space for tents and cars, always clean facilities and happy rooster singing in the morning. From 5 pm you can order a pizza and it would be made in an oven at the camp.

Great attention to detail for backpackers

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

They have a super little shop, great for backpackers as you can get some supplies. All money goes into an honesty box. It's a bit noisy by the road but it is quiet overnight, so you can sleep well. Roey will collect you from the visitor centre which is a great gesture as the road up to the campsite is narrow with cars. There is a pavement for some of the route.

Great site for families

We had a fantastic stay at the campsite — the staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The wood-fired pizza was absolutely amazing and a real highlight to round off the stay.

Well looked after and friendly

Have stayed here a few times now and it's always nice. The owners are always in and out keeping things well managed. The Saturday night pizzas are really good too.

Large Tent - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Amazing hosts, they go out of their way to make your holiday one to remember. Nic, Karen and Nellie make a great team! The site is really well kept and the toilets and showers are the cleanest I've ever seen on a campsite. Its in easy reach of a number of beaches, pubs and supermarkets. I have given 3 star for the location because the road running along side can be quite noisy but I knew this before booking so it was no surprise. Having said that, it wouldn't put me off coming back, this place is great and the hosts are lovely people. I'll definitely be back!

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

We had a fab stay. The site was fantastic showers/toilets were clean, plenty of space between pitches. The owners are lovely, only a phone call away if you have any problems. A little honesty shop, although we were fully equipped we did purchase milk. Great little spot for exploring Clovelly village and gardens. Thank you for a great stop over.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Roey's Retreat is a wonderful place to stay! We were hiking the South West Coast Path and needed a camp site near Clovelly. Roey's is not that close to the path, but they were amazingly friendly and could pick us op in Clovelly to bring us to the camp site (in the morning we were dropped off again at the Visitor Centre so we could start our hike immediately again). We had a large pitch for our tent, close to drinking water, plenty of bins to deposit our trash. Roey's has nice showers (for £1 you get five minutes of shower time, which is plenty), a wonderful little shop with everything you need, even nice earrings to take home. We rested very well, it was calm and quiet and we had a lot of picnic benches at our disposal to eat our dinner on. If we ever go back, I would definitely stay at Roey's again!

Lovely little site with helpful team

A small site great for Clovelly and the coast path. Easy to find off the A39 and the team were very welcoming and helpful. Pick ups offered for walkers too which was great. Bring £1 coins for the showers - worth it as they're piping hot.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Nick picked us up from Clovelly which was amazing as we had big packs. Site was lovely with a great honesty shop, kettle, microwave, tea making stuff. Just brilliant and a nice outdoor seating area. £1 for the shower. Was worried the busy main road would keep me awake but the traffic noise quietened in the evening and I had my best campsite sleep in a week. Just a lovely chilled place to stay and Nick was really helpful.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Great location for exploring the local area. Very easy check in and out. All pitches have loads of space. Only 2 showers could make it interesting if the site was full. Plenty of hot water for the dishes. A very well kept grass site. Some may find the nearby road noisy.

Bell Tent - Bell TentJul 2025

We had a wonderful weekend glamping at Roeys. The beds were comfortable, the outdoor cooking area fully equipped including toaster and fridge filled with local eggs, bacon, bread and milk, and the bell tent furnished with settees, flooring and even electric lighting. Roey was friendly and helpful giving us tips on walking routes and local take aways. Highly recommended for a visit to Clovelly!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

A nice stay, it's a very basic site and be mindful when booking, you're on a main road so it's noisy all through the night. Owners were lovely and pleasant. I would say the downsides would be paying for showers as most other sites showers are included in the £30 a night stay we've visited in the past. Also, the noise on the main road. It is a perfect location for walks and a visit to the beautiful village of Clovelly.

Great site, great location

A lovely campsite very good situated to visit Clovelly. Absolutely one to recommend. Very clean sanitary facilities and and a nice small shop. The friendly owner came by everyday to check if everything was alright, and gave us tips for the rest of our holiday. We stayed 2 nights with our camper.

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

Lovely basic site which Karen has added little extras. Such a lovely lady who picked us up from Clovelly visitor centre after we had done our SWCP walk and took us back to our motorhome. Good value for money. Will be going back another time to walk the other way. Bus stop outside with bus going about every 3 hours, check timetable though. Campsite is set up well for hikers. Microwave and Kettle and also an undercover area with picnic bench. Also an honestly shop with a few items.
