About the site

Owned and run by the same family for 90 years, the site enjoys panoramic views of Dartmoor and the Devon countryside. It's great for a traditional camping holiday with handy facilities including an onsite shop and takeaway menu. For tents, trailer tents, roof tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes, there are a range of grass and hardstanding pitches. Some also include an optional 16 amp electric hook up. If you are travelling light, there are ten small non electric grass pitches for cyclists, walkers and motorcyclists. All pitches allow cycles or cars. For days out, the site is within a 30 minute drive of Plymouth, the famous Barbican, Ivybridge, Totnes, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe and many beaches - Bigbury on Sea, Thurlestone, Hope Cove, Bantham, South Milton, Mothecombe. It is a central location and two minutes from the A379, which makes exploring the area easy and stress free. The site also offers two and three bedroom holiday caravans for hire if you do not fancy camping. Dogs can join you for your stay, with up to three pups permitted per pitch. There are even designated off-lead walking areas onsite for you to explore. In the evening, you can cook up a BBQ as long as it is raised from the ground. Open fires are not permitted. The extremely popular onsite cafe is run by Richie and Alison, who serve amazing breakfasts, lunches and takeway meals, homemade cakes, coffee and tea.

A note from the site themselves...

Pennymoor was opened by our Grandmother in 1935 and was passed down to our parents, who have since passed away. It has always been a huge part of our lives, helping out at the site from a very young age. It is a way of life.

We meet so many lovely families who return year after year. Indeed, we have many visitors whose parents and grandparents visited us many times and now they themselves bring their own children and grandchildren.

We are very proud of the standard of the holiday caravans and the cleanliness of the whole site and the facilities. Every year, we look forward to meeting our regular and new guests.

Single Axle Caravan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2025

Had a lovely stay here everything was spotless toilets and showers. The staff were one of the best we have had. Have to give it 5 stars plus. The shop on site was great and it was a cafe to and the food was fantastic. Yet again staff were amazing.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2025

We booked this at the last minute. Everything was very clean and tidy and the whole site was very well maintained. The on site café was a great and saved us from having to go out for evening meals as they did a takeaway service for the evening. We had fish and chips one night and pizza the next. Both were exceptionally good meals. We also had a breakfast in the café in the morning which set us up for the whole day. The facilities were excellent throughout the site and very well located. We also liked the dog exercise field which we made use of. Basically, this site has everything for couples with pets (our dog and cockatiel enjoyed their stay) and for families. While it was busy, it was also very peaceful and everyone had plenty of room. We would definitely return here again.
