Great location for a weekend visit
Sprinter-Type Campervan - XL Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2024 Picked the site because it happens to be not far from where hot air balloons were going up. Arrived Friday, settled in. Saturday at Banham Zoo next door. Sunday morning at the car boot, then lunch at the Red Lion in Kenninghall (walkable along a footpath rather than on the roads). Left Monday morning and went home via Attleborough.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2024 A great service and very friendly staff. Lincoln was especially helpful getting the car started!
It was nice and quiet and very spacious. There was a lot of room for kids.
Next to the zoo, pub, shop and chippy. Cash only but shop does cashback.

Large Tent - XL Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 Great games area for kids and adults. Great showers, hot water, flat campsite. Great local shop, butchers, pub, takeaway and zoo. Fabulous all around.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 it was really nice. Good location. Shop, bar, fish and chips and great butchers.
I would definitely come back but I felt that it was a bit overcrowded.

Excellent stay
Motorhome - XL Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 A very friendly, peaceful site. The pitches were of good size. The location was good if you wanted to visit Banham Zoo, 2 mins walk. We walked into the next village through the fields. The Red Lion pub served excellent food.

I am glad that you found the footpath down through the fields into Kenninghall as it is a beautiful walk with pretty scenery enroute. The Red Lion is very popular with our guests, so good to know that you had a lovely meal. Next time you come to stay, we can give you directions to walk through the footpaths going in the other direction as that's also a nice walk with pub enroute. Beautiful, well kept park
Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches Mar 2024 Very friendly and efficient staff that couldn't do enough for you. We found this site as a last minute booking and there were no more electric hooks up available but on arrival, Karen the manager sorted it very quickly at a small £5 charge. Very clean and well positioned pitches, we were at the back of the park, it was lovely and quiet.
Only one negative, the female showers were so hot you couldn't stand underneath and there were no adjustment controls so there is no way a child could use them. We did find out afterwards that there were more modern showers in the next block.

Easter weekend fun
Motorhome - XL Electric Grass Pitches Mar 2024 Loved this site apart from two things.
Due to the rain and being on a grass pitch, as soon as we pulled on, we sunk into the mud and got stuck. The site tried to get a tractor or someone to pull us out but thankfully, a fellow camper who had a tow rope helped and saved the day.
Our only other gripe is that we were located too far away from water to be able to fill up the motorhome. We had two hose pipes which have always been overkill for any other site we have stayed at, but we needed a third hose to reach, which on this occasion, the site were able to help us with.
This would not stop us from staying again but if we were told in advance, we would have been more prepared. The advice we were given by the campsite was most people pull off their pitch to fill up, but we were not able to do that as we were attached to our awning!

Weekend stay visiting family
Motorhome - XL Electric Hardstanding Touring Pitches Feb 2024 Due to having rained so much, the edges around the pitch were extremely muddy. It was due to no fault of the site, but it made it challenging every time you wanted to venture out.
The site itself is lovely and the showers were spotless and it's so lovely having underfloor heating. The warden was helpful especially as when we arrived it was dark and pouring with rain and the electric wouldn't work at first.
We would definitely come again, but will wait until things dry up a little first.

Quiet, rural site Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2023 It's hard to score this stop. It's in the middle of nowhere, apart from the zoo next door. At the entrance to the site there is a little shop, butchers, chip shop/ kebab shop and a pub so generally well catered for.
The site could be much better with a bit more attention to detail and grass cutting. The grass was collected when it was 3" long which meant it all went into our van, tent, the toilets and showers etc.
The new showers at the rear are great but let down by slow poor fans so the rooms steam up and using the mirrors are not possible. The toilet blocks are clean but there were lots of cobwebs.
This could be a 5 star park with some attention to detail.

We have taken on board your comments on the grass cutting and the fans in the new shower facilities and will see if it is possible to rectify the issues.
Our cobweb brush is out on a regular basis but our little friends love to come join us on a daily basis so we will have to more of an keep and eye on them.

Fantastic site in a great setting
Twin Axle Caravan - XL Electric Hardstanding Touring Pitches Aug 2023 Our stay at Applewood Countryside Park was an incredible break. The park is small and easily accessible. The team that runs it is very friendly and communicative. The zoo next door is a great place to take children and easily offers enough for a return visit during your stay. Nearby places like Diss, Thetford and Bury offer wonderful days out. The amenities nearby the campsite are great, especially the pub and butchers.
During our stay, the summer food truck festival was onsite. Each day provided a lovely assortment of treats that the kids (and adults) enjoyed come evening time.
We were sad when our stay came to an end and are already busy planning the best time to come back for a return visit.

Being in the heart of Norfolk, we are very privileged to have such beautiful local towns and cities - most of which are within a hours drive from the Park. Norwich is a stunning historic city with famous Castle and Cathedral that is only 25 miles from here, so well worth a visit upon your return.

What a great site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jul 2023 This was our very first caravan site experience. What an experience.
From our arrival to departure everything was made so easy. There is ample space between pitches, drinking water points were at an easy walking stance from our pitch (Laurel) and the toilets/showers/chemical waste areas were exceedingly clean and tidy. Nothing was too much effort for the very friendly, polite and knowledgeable staff who went out of their way to help us.
We liked this site so much, we have taken advantage of the caravan storage facility which is completely covered and very secure. As I mentioned earlier, this was first time pulling a caravan, but with the 'vans being stored at angles, parking was made that much easier. It was during Storm Antoni when we were putting our van in storage, so poor Marie got drenched, but with great aplomb, she just chuckled and "got on with it". Thanks Marie, you did a great job.
If you are finding it difficult to find a peaceful, pleasant and enjoyable location, you won't go far wrong in choosing Applewood Countryside Park. There is a 15 acre field for dog walkers, adjoined by a woods area and the dogs are free to run "off the lead" in both these areas, just be sensible and be aware "others" may be also walking their dog/s. There are dog "waste" areas strategically located around the site with ample general waste areas also dotted around the area. The showers/toilets/chemical waste areas are second to none and extremely clean and very well tended.
Okay, it is out of the way, but isn't this what we look for, peace and quiet, pure bliss. For animal lovers, Banham Zoo adjoins Applewood and is extremely accessible. There is a great Fish and Chip (take note though - cash only) shop with a One Stop store almost opposite the site, and is well stocked. You won't be disappointed, if you are then there is something wrong with you.
Enjoy it, we did!

It was lovely to meet you, your wife and dog last week. It sounds like you had fun wandering around the campsite and checking out the Fish and Chip shop and Onestop shop opposite in the Appleyard. You didn't mention the pub and butcher, so I hope that you didn't miss these as the butcher does tasty bacon rolls and an array of yummy cakes.
We were really pleased that we could help with storing your caravan and promise to look out to it until you return.
