Three night camping trip

Great little place by the river. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Lovely walks and dog friendly even in the site pub. Would go back.

Very happy, enjoyed our stay so much we booked again

We had a great weekend and have booked again, all staff very helpful and happy to help. Nothing was too much trouble. Loved this camp.

Waveney

Wonderful location except for single track road to the site. The swimming was a real bonus.

We agree that sometimes the single track road can be a little intimidating if you are not used to country lanes, however the road is not very busy and the local farmers are very accommodating to caravan users and motorhomes which is great. We had a nice time

Great place, we have been coming for years, but I am sad to say, it could do with some things updating, the pitch we had was very small and all dirt. Really could do with a hard surface on it and the trees cutting back to let more light in. The swimming pool is great, but the changing room floors are too wet to be able to put dry clothes on - same as the showers in the shower block and really need squeezable mops in them like other places use. The play area was full of kids but does need updating. We love being able to take our dog on the field and around the campsite but it could do with some more dog poo bins. As always, we had a lovely time and enjoyed seeing the boats, but please do look into updating.

Lovely site

2 nights stay with 2 under 10s. Small park but hours of fun. Nice small site for camping so can see the children from pitch. Pool is basic. Location is quiet and lovely setting however, marked as three stars as you have to travel at least 15 mins by car to get to anything else. Toilet facilities were warm and fairly clean but only half seemed to be available during the stay. Lovely staff! Would be ideal to have a bigger park and more open space for ball games. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic site

Fantastic site. Great pool for the kids. Staff were lovely. The food was so good, plenty to choose from. Great little shop on site too. Definitely be returning.

Great location and excellent facilities

Throughly enjoyed our stay at Waveney River Centre. Fabulous on site pub with good food and a shop. The heated indoor pool and play park for the kids were great.

Our stay

In the information pack, the site need to have detailed access information as the roads leading to the site are very tight for touring vans and done without passing points. At the time of our visit, only 5 out of 10 showers were open and working, and there was no hot water in the dish wash area, swimming pool showers. The pool was good but again needed attention, the lockers were non functioning, the showers not working but the staff very helpful. The park in a while was quiet and clean and the on site pub and shop reasonable.

Touring

The site was peaceful and relaxing. Nice view of the marina. Clean and tidy in all areas. Friendly staff. Very remote location with very tight country single road access. Facilities are minimal but convenient. Local shops near by.

Mini break with my son over school hols

Staff gets the highest praise, they are fantastic in every department - from front desk to the restaurant and bar. A special mention to the swimming pool, fantastic and included in the price, which my boy loved. Location and drive in can be a bit nail-biting and just hope you don't meet anyone the other way. View if you get the top pitch for touring vehicles is great .

Nice peaceful site

Nice peaceful site with great views. Excellent site if you want to get away from it all. All facilities easily accessible. Toilets clean. We didn't use the showers as we had our own in the motorhome. The pitches were quite close together, so it felt like we didn't have a lot of privacy, but once the hedges grow later in the season, this probably wouldn't be an issue. Overall, a nice stay.

Weekend break

Many of the shower rooms were kept locked and cleanliness was disappointing. Need to use the ferry for long walks. Check timings. Food was good.

Good time

It was our first outing in our camper. Very impressed with the site and the facilities. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for peace and quiet.

Lovely friendly staff

Had a lovely stay, the staff were very friendly. The toilets and showers were a little dirty, but the weather was not great, so difficult to maintain I would think.

Okay

Site was lovely, the restaurant bar and games room was excellent. The pool was clean, as was the site. Only thing we found was the showers are pretty grubby! We would stay again but would avoid the showers at all costs!

River escape

A great place, very helpful staff. All the facilities were up to standard. There was a nice clean pool and easy access to the river.

Nice stay

Lovely site with views over the river and marina. Good facilities with bar and a swimming pool on site. Just be aware of the narrow road to the site.

A quite, clean and small site. There was good food at the hotel.

Good site, shame about the access roads

The site has a great outlook from the pitches looking over the moorings to the river. The pitches are reasonably level, I just needed to use a few inches of ramp to level left to right. The pitches had electricity, water and grey waste, all reasonably accessible. They are a little narrow, if you use an awning you will not get your car on the pitch as well. They have hedges all round and these were trimmed. The toilets were okay and acceptable cleanliness. The only real downside, which is not a fault of the campsite, is the access roads. These are a single lane with very few passing places, so you find yourself praying that you do not meet another car coming the other way. They also have hedges and bushes encroaching on the road. You are going to get scratches on your windows and caravan sides, there is almost no avoiding it. A good site as long as you don't mind spending time polishing out all the scratches afterwards.

Bloody brilliant

Well, just got home from being here and have already booked to come back. We could not fault the whole thing, not even if I wanted to be fickle could I find something that needed improvement. The site was brilliant as well as the facilities and scenery. Meant to take pictures of the site but unfortunately forgot, but did take pictures of the view.

Little trip away in the campervan

Staff - 10/10. Location fabulous. On site shop great and the Inn was brilliant. The swimming pool was the icing on the cake, the temperature of the pool was perfect, thank you. Only points we have are that hedges could be better trimmed at the back of the pitch, was tricky to get to the electric/water. Shower block extractors not working and the showers were very dark inside. The block could do with an upgrade. Maybe put drain cleaner down all the sinks in the toilet block and shower block. All smells a bit damp and the air freshener makes it smell worse, I'd rather small some bleach or bathroom cleaner than the air freshener. Otherwise, just great and everyone was so helpful.

A great site to take in the wildlife and visit the marshes

We had a lovely few days at Waveney River Centre with a pitch with a peaceful view of the river and marshes only about 300 yards away. Peaceful from 02 Sept, when we stayed. Prior to this, I hear it is very busy and noisy children, but that might be what you are looking for. We are keen river walkers and were surprised, as were many people, that you cannot walk along the river in either directions and can only walk up to roads away from the river or around the site, as there are no paths with access either way along the river or to the marshes. A ferry to Carlton Marsh, just a very short hop in the boat that is operated by the centre, this wasn't running from Monday to Wednesday and on Thursday, it was too windy until later in the day, but we completely understand this. It is about 30 minutes drive to Lowestoft or to access Oulton Broad or Carlton Marsh from the other side, which is well worth a visit, with very well mapped out paths around the Marsh. We will recommend to friends and look forward to returning.
