Clear filters Excellent and calm, with bonus fantastic Thai food
Small Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches Jul 2024 Really enjoyed my stay here. Stayed in one of the small pitches in the woods and it was gorgeous.
The Thai food cooked on site is better than many a Thai restaurant I've been to!
Shower/toilet rooms are pretty decent, but I fear may get a bit overwhelmed if the site was super busy.

Small Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches Jul 2024 Beautiful 'almost wild' campsite in a stunning location. We paid extra for a woodland pitch, which was secluded and had a wonderful view.
The staff are friendly and the facilities are clean enough, but not luxurious by any stretch. I accept that there is a trade off for a wild experience and luxurious facilities, so this was to be expected. I could see that the staff were working to improve the place.
The price is quite high compared to other campsites, especially with the £12 greener camping membership. I hope that if the site becomes more popular the prices would come down, but I don't expect this as you're paying to not stay in a generic campsite.
It's the perfect place to go if you want a more wild experience, but still want the amenities of showers, toilets, a freezer, charging points and small shop. There is also an on-site hut providing delicious Thai food, which is very welcome when you can't cook. There is also a bar, which wasn't open when we visited, but would've been used if it had. The site has a small path which leads to the Afon estuary. This has a disused railway line path linking Dollgelleau and Barmouth in a couple of hours walk.
10/10 would recommend and we will be coming back.
Fantastic, off grid location in a stunning area
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Wooded Campervan Pitches Jul 2024 A fantastic little get away, the owners were wonderful, helpful people. Lovely little spots to park your campervan under the canopy of woodland. Shower block and small shop near the owners home and a little kitchen where the owner cooks authentic, mouth watering Thai food.
A little gem of a place. We will be using it a lot all year round and would highly recommend Cefn Coed to anybody wanting to get away for an off grid experience.
Amazing stay, highly recommend
Medium Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches Jul 2024 An amazing stay at Cefn Coed! Lovely area. The facilities were lovely, 3 showers and 4 toilets, all kept very clean. The showers were above what we expected for a campsite, plenty of hot water - the site uses local water sources.
Little shop on site has the essentials if need be for decent prices. Small Thai food truck and bar/café van, which were lovely too, and pretty good value.
The pitches themselves were kept in good condition. Fires are allowed, as long as they are in a fire pit (which you can hire from there), and your own BBQ as long as it has legs so it is off the ground.
Easy to find. Entrance up to the site is a short narrow country lane, but we saw a van make it to the car park so it isn't too bad, easy enough to get through, just to be aware of.
Pub 5 min drive down the road is quite expensive, but the quality is excellent and matches the price. The little village further on is lovely as well, with nice butchers, pubs and bakeries! Good location to travel a lot of north Wales, inc. Snowdon.
We will plan to come back at some point.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches Jun 2024 A perfect family camping trip. We had a forest tent pitch and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our 3 year old loved it. We plan on returning very soon.
There were even some cute dogs around.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 We had a lovely stay and Cefn Coed, we stayed there for our climb up to Cadair Idris. The staff were all lovely and accommodating, the showers and toilets were very clean. There's a lot of convenience to this campsite too, there's a little shop open in the day and a bar/café for the morning and evening. We loved it here would defo return! Thanks you all!

Family trip
Small Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches Jun 2024 An excellent campsite which offers everything you would need (showers, toilets, washing station, and very nice areas under trees to pitch your tent). The pitches in the woodland area are definitely worth it as they provide shelter and also your own private area for your family/group.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 Stunning views from the field. Showers are well maintained and clean, sponges and dish soap were also provided for washing up. Owners/staff were really friendly and it was easy to get in and set up. I have already recommended it to friends and family and will be returning myself!
Very great stay
Small Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches May 2024 A very lovely place to camp. We booked the woodland pitch for 3 nights and had an amazing time. One thing I would note is the pitches aren't spaced out as far as we assumed (this is not a bad thing) but overall the experience was amazing and we would definitely go again.
Really nice campsite and Host
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 A nice campsite, quiet and relaxing. You can start some really cool hikes from the camp.
The facilities are simple but had what we needed. The little On-site shop had essentials available.
The Host/Owner was really nice, they gave us lots of advice on the surrounding areas. He was just generally a nice guy, who wants to help and make your stay great.
Also they do Thai takeaway in the evening which we really were not expecting, but was a really nice treat after hiking all day!

Nice area but lacking in facilities
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Wooded Campervan Pitches May 2024 Beautiful place with a great service but the facilities are lacking in quality and quantity. There is no waste disposal or toilet emptying and, with only 4 toilets on the site and 3 showers, it could leave you in trouble.
The ground is very hard and loaded with slate so you can't get a peg in the ground properly for an awning in on the campervan sites. Also the ground is covered in large bits of slate, so isn't suitable for chairs or ground sheets.

Natalie, Adrian and Vaughan always near by to help. Lots of spots to camp with great views and local walks on your doorstep. Open field or enclosed woodland wild camping hideaways. Walk to Barmouth via the estuary path (stunning) and head up to the mountains near by.
Dolgellau is lovely friendly town not far by car. Loads of places to eat and drink. Go up the local mountain walks or visit anywhere in the Snowdonia National Park. We went to Castell y Bere. Super walk from Abergynolwyn which has a gorgeous steam railway and cafe.

Large Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches May 2024 We absolutely loved our stay at Cefn Coed!
It is very wild and rough and requires a minimal level of fitness to hike up the steep road to get to the toilets, showers and washing up areas, which are all in one. Showers are lovely and hot with great pressure. Toilets are much to be desired and always wet, but to be honest its only a few minutes a day to suck it up and get on with it. It's so worth it (and I love my comfort).
Once you get used to that bit, you start to appreciate what you have around you. We booked mainly for the private areas under the trees, but our daughter wanted to do cartwheels and we couldn't park the car nearby, so we ended up on the field. Just as fabulous with valley views, and the car right next to your tent. The fire hire was brilliant, and wheel barrows available to help lug it down to your site.
The only other thing to note, there are no plug points or bins. Might be worth investing in a power bank for phones.
The staff were very helpful and friendly! Overall would highly recommend it as it is also very close to beautiful walks, restaurants and Barmouth beach!

The best campsite
Medium Tent - Non Electric Woodland Tent Pitches May 2024 Wanted a bit of a get away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. What an absolute beautiful campsite, with lots of lovely walks just minutes away from our pitch. Facilities were extremely clean, and pitches were well maintained. Their little shop was a life saver as even sold mosquito repellent. We was lucky and even got to see the northern lights. Would definitely recommend, we've found our new special place. Will be returning, thank you. And thank you for managing to squeeze us in for the extra night.
Beautiful scenery but a few issues Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 We stayed Friday through Monday. We unfortunately got the wrong field that was booked entirely and then did the same on a different one. We asked the couple that booked the second, after finding out we were still wrong, and they were fine with us staying where we were so we didn't have to move a second time. We were only given vocal instructions to where to go. So I want to highlight what we believe helped with our unfortunate confusion that lead to these incidents.
First I felt there's a lack of signs, it's not very clear where people need to go, what pitch is which and what is reserved. The directions given only go so far, especially on the strip of road with offshoots. The signs that are there don't clearly show what is what and which is which. Also most signs are grey text on slate, so are a bit hard to read.
I think maybe a Map would be good as it can be complimentary to the vocal instructions given.
Lastly, on a different note, we were a bit confused as to why there was no lights in the showers and so was another resident as we were asked where they were while cleaning teeth, surprisingly. There's only a slit for light unfortunately and it isn't enough, especially in the evening times.
Silver lining, we do really like the scenery and it looks like a nice place. We have enjoyed the time spent here and appreciate the accommodation.
However I will not be returning to this campsite as I felt it was just too much stress for me and my partner.

The facilities provided are fine for a few days, but gets very busy in the mornings and after meal times.
