Clear filters Great site with easy access to York
Medium Tent - Hardstanding Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 A spacious site in a nice landscaped setting. Friendly welcome on arrival and plenty of space for camping and RVs. Has good fishing pond for those interested. Excellent local pub nearby and park and ride for York not far away.

Only thing would be maybe WIFI? And as we have a car-tent, a bus service so can visit places.

Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Jun 2025 The site and Peter were excellent, very helpful, lots of knowledge and places to see.
Site was very good overall plenty of facilities. Clean tidy and well groomed. Fishing lake is great and a bargain at 5 quid a day.
Would like to see the elsan point changed, didn't like the cabin affect around it, could do with being like a gazebo and a cone pan with hosed water supply. What is there does the job but felt a bit hot and enclosed and sometimes ponged a bit. Little bit of a change would make all the difference. Thanks.

Medium Tent - Hardstanding Grass Tent Pitches May 2025 Very friendly, informative, helpful gentleman providing us with lots of information about the area, we will be back!
Couldn't ask for anything more, everything we needed, value for money, nice area - not too far from shops/attractions etc! We will be back and may try a pod next time, added bonus of owls and wild bunnies everywhere.

Large Tent - Hardstanding Grass Tent Pitches May 2025 Couldn't have been better for our son's intro to camping.
The owner was brilliantly helpful and gave us a great spot next to the fishing lake. Loads of wildlife and other nature to get involved with.
All very efficient and convenient for our stay. Thanks!

Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Apr 2025 Lovely kept campsite, privately owned. A little far out, so you need a taxi if you are in a motorhome, as we were. Luckily, there is one on-site although not available during our stay.
Site is well kept with clean facilities. It is a family site, so expect children. All quiet at 10pm, no issues. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
Gem of a campsite
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Apr 2025 Pete contacted us prior to arrival to confirm and help with directions and access code to secure gate.
Really helpful and friendly throughout our stay, a font of knowledge about the local area and city. Short drive to shopping and York park and ride. Facilities are kept to a good standard, well stocked and clean. Good washing up area and recycling/rubbish setup with dog waste bins separately around the site. We had our dog with us and there was plenty of space and places to walk (on lead only). Lots of interesting lights and even a fairy garden which our daughter loved.
There is a fishing lake too but we didn't fish so can't comment, but there were quite a few proper anglers there so must be good.
A massive bonus was the owls, there is currently has an owl rescue 'owl and about' on site, run by an amazing and dedicated guy. If it hadn't been lambing season, it might of been our daughters highlight of the whole trip!
All in, value for money was great and will definitely stay again.
Too short a stay
Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Apr 2025 We were greeted at barrier by Peter the warden, who couldn't have been more helpful. Walked us to our pitch and even filled our inboard water tank for us as he explained all about the site, where the pubs were, shops and best taxis, should we want to go into York.
Shower/toilets were heated and clean, as was the whole of the site. Fishing was excellent, lots of good fish in good condition. Every time Peter was passing, he would ask was all okay, how was trip and did we need anything. Wish we had longer to stay, on my list to go back.
This will be great in the summer time
Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Feb 2025 My only concern is that we couldn't get our Wi-Fi reception. However, we could get 5g so everything was fine. It is a well laid out site and friendly.

Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Dec 2024 Had a few days in York to go and enjoy Christmas markets. This site was great. Clean, well maintained and a friendly welcome, with good size pitches.
Given loads of info of local area. Shopping centre was close by as also was the park and ride into York.

Greeted by Peter and shown directly to plot. Easy access to central York for Christmas markets. Showers and wash areas all clean, warm and tidy. Will use again.

Wonderful site
Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Nov 2024 Absolutely a gem of a find. Everything was clean and tidy. Toilets and showers were spotless and Pete was there making sure everyone was alright.
We got to see the owls that were staying over in one of the pods. Couldn't have asked for a better place. Nice dog walk around the site and close to all the shops if needed.

Only drawback was rather muddy grass, more gravel areas would greatly improve it. Excellent location for visiting York and North York Moors and the coast.

VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Oct 2024 A lovely site, with super clean facilities and friendly owners. It was quiet (we visited during the week in mid-Oct). It was easy to get into central York by bus from the Park and Ride.
2 night stay

Wagtail an absolute must
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Aug 2024 Wagtail is very quiet and peaceful. Peter, the owner, is very helpful and helped with information on buses taxis etc.
The shower and toilet block were spotless, as was the park itself.
If you like fishing, this is an absolutely ideal place with a large lake. Car is a bonus, as the bus service does not pass this campsite.

Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Aug 2024 Peter called a day earlier to confirm all was well. I called him back the next day to advise we may be later than the check in time.
On arrival, he was very helpful and even called a couple of pubs to arrange a booking for us. He explained where everything was located, provided a useful local guide to York and advised which park and ride would be best for us and our motor home. He also checked in on us during our stay.
The site is very well kept and has a great dog walk area around the perimeter of the site. The facilities were clean and I didn't have to wait once to use them.

Aug 2024 First time visit. Immaculate site, super helpful owner, highly recommended. Will definitely visit again. They must be proud of this site.
