About the site


Located in rural Norfolk, this peaceful adult only site offers a relaxing countryside escape. The small historic market town of Hingham is just a ten minute stroll away, with a local butcher, independent shops, a few cafes and a welcoming dog friendly pub. The site is spread across eight acres of grassland and lakes, divided into smaller camping areas. Backpackers can choose from five 4m x 4m non electric grass pitches, while campers have a choice of medium 5m x 6m or extra large 8m x 8m non electric grass pitches. There are also medium 6m x 5m and extra large grass pitches with an optional 16 amp electric hook up. Tourers are equally well catered for, with extra large 8m x 8m non electric grass pitches, extra large 8m x 6m grass pitches with an optional 16 amp electric hook up, along with four 8m x 8m hardstanding touring pitches, also with an optional 16 amp electric hook up. For glampers, there's a cosy dog friendly bell tent in a secluded corner, complete with a king size bed, bedding, heating, WiFi, a wood burning stove and a private outdoor kitchen with cooking equipment, a fridge, furniture and a fire pit. It also benefits from its own eco toilet, with a shared shower nearby. For an even more comfortable stay, upgrade to the handcrafted dog friendly shepherd's hut. Inside, you'll find a comfy double bed (bedding and towels), an equipped kitchen with an oven, hob and fridge, a wood burner, WiFi and a private ensuite toilet and shower. Outside, there's a seating area and fire pit, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Those staying in Kestrels Rest will also have access to 24 acres of private footpaths, a fully equipped BBQ area, and the lakes. Fishing enthusiasts can make the most of the two well-stocked fishing lakes, while those looking to relax can simply soak up the peaceful surroundings. Up to three dogs are welcome per pitch. There's also a dedicated dog walking area, making it easy to bring your four-legged friend along for the adventure. Raised BBQs and campfires are also permitted onsite.

Onsite facilities include a heated block with ladies' and gents' toilets, shower facilities and washing up sinks. You'll also find fridges, freezers, microwaves, a washing machine, tumble dryer and an iron. Those staying in the bell tent will have access to a private eco toilet and shared shower, while those in the shepherd's hut have their own ensuite.

Free WiFi and a dog walk are available too. There are two well-stocked fishing lakes with carp, crucian carp, tench, roach, rudd, bream, and perch, though they must be returned to the lake once caught. Fishing is available all year between 7am and dusk. If you are staying in the shepherd's hut, you will have access to both lakes for free.

Hingham is a short ten minute stroll away from the site, where you will find a local butcher, convenience store, bakery, cafe, and The White Hart pub.

Things to do on site and in the Hingham area

Fishing and relaxing are the perfect way to spend your stay, with two well-stocked fishing lakes onsite. Afterwards, head to the local pub, The White Hart, just a 15 minute walk away, for excellent food and drink to round off your day.

The historic market town of Hingham is only a ten minute walk from the site, surrounded by beautiful Georgian townhouses and linked to Abraham Lincoln, whose direct ancestor, Samuel Lincoln, left Hingham for the New World in 1638.

While in Hingham, browse a great selection of independent shops, including an antiques shop, a bakery, butchers, a fruit and veg shop, two cafes, a local Co-op and more.

If you're feeling sporty, there are plenty of local golf clubs nearby, including Barnham Broom (10 minutes), Mattishall (15 minutes) and Bawburgh (20 minutes). You can also hire a local pool at Woodrising, five minutes away, or visit the nearby sports and leisure centre, complete with a bar offering weekly entertainment.

For a bigger day out, head to Norwich, just 30 minutes away. Set on the River Wensum, the city is packed with history, from Norwich Castle and Norwich Cathedral to its cobbled streets and medieval buildings. You can also enjoy independent shops, cafes, picturesque parks and riverside walks.
