Newhouse Farm Wild Camping is an off-grid campsite hidden in the Goodwood Estate, 20 minutes from Chichester. The site offers non electric pitches for tents and motorhomes, as well as four quirky Landpods. With footpaths running directly from the farm to the South Downs Way and nearby pubs serving great food, it's an ideal option for a relaxing group getaway - dogs included!
About the site
Set on a working farm with beautiful views over the South Downs National Park landscape, this off-grid site is a great option for friends, families or solo travellers looking to swap the everyday stresses of city living for a slower pace of life. Numbered non-electric grass pitches are dotted around the perimeter of the field, with a more freestyle setting in the middle, as well as space for playing games. The pitches are suitable for tents, campervans and motorhomes and are dog-friendly. If you're keen to skip the hassle of putting up a tent, there are also four dog friendly Landpods, sleeping two to six people. Both open plan, the Drey has two z beds and sleeps two, and the Roost has a double futon and two z beds, sleeping four. Both pods have BBQs and firepits. The Burrow has a double bunk bed, sleeping four, a dining area with a table, a wood burning stove, a kitchen corner, an iPod dock, a BBQ and a fire pit. The Sett has two double beds, a sleeping platform and a z bed, sleeping six, and has a BBQ, firepit and a dining area. For all the Landpods, you'll need to bring all camping equipment, minus the tent - including all linen, sleeping bags and cooking equipment. The South Downs are part of the Dark Sky Reserve, so expect dramatic starry displays while you cosy up around your campfire. In keeping with this, you'll need to bring a strong torch for midnight toilet trips as much of the site is unlit. Being part of the Goodwood Estate, you're well situated for visiting the many events hosted at the racecourse. motor circuit and festival site, all of which are 15 minutes away. Dogs are very welcome at this site. Campfires and BBQs are permitted as long as they're raised from the ground in a fire pit. Bring your own fire pit or hire one for the duration of your stay.
Open from 28 April to 30 September.
