Social District is a beautifully positioned, back to nature base for camping with exclusive direct access to Lake Windermere. Boasting non electric pitches and a stretch of lake frontage, it's a few minutes drive from local restaurants, near the YMCA's fun activities and ideal for joining the Windermere ferry. Ten minutes from the National Trust's Hill Top and set beside an English Heritage museum.

Most perfect campsite we have stayed in. The lake is right next to the site is perfect for a swim. I wasn't expecting any facilities as it's a green wilderness site. However, was very pleased with the shower and toilet facilities. Owner greeted us, had conversations with us and made us feel very comfortable. Will 100% be returning. Perfect secret site.

Overall good experience. Friendly staff, Only thing that could be improved is lighting in the washroom and regular checks to ensure people are not disturbing each other.

Great view and friendly site. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a couple of wet days but when the sun came out, it was idyllic. Would stay again.

Amazing location! Facilities are high standard and clean. Only complaint is that we wished the quiet after 10pm rule was enforced a little more, but some things cannot be helped. Other than this, we had an amazing holiday.

Absolutely wonderful love with idyllic views! People were lively and each person that has a tent left a generous amount of space for privacy for other campers. The only downfall is the toilets, they really need a good clean and maybe a sink somewhere for people to wash their hands.

Such a laid back campsite with lots of space so no worry of overcrowding. Location was right on the lake which made it very picturesque and lots of fun during the day. My ONLY issue would be the price (£60 for 2 nights non electric) which was slightly too high given zero facilities. There was a single water tap and 4 portaloos to support a full site which, as you can imagine, wasn't very pleasant to use at times... Would love to see the owners invest in a toilet cabin which can be serviced and kept clean. All in all though, sick weekend getaway in the lakes!

Fantastic water access, freedom to pitch anywhere and stunning location. But the 10:00pm quiet policy advertised, albeit was a Friday & Saturday evening, was non existent. The 1:00am music and shouting both nights spoilt a beautiful location. No fault of the owners, can't expect them to up at that time policing drunks, but was not mentioned on arriving. Great 2 night stay spoilt by inconsiderate folk.

Just love the location. No frills, just the lake, grass and trees. What more do you want? Maybe some good weather, which we were very lucky to have.

A very basic site with just 4 portaloos and a water tap but it's everything you need. The location is stunning and if you're lucky, you can camp right on the lake edge, a stones throw if not. We were able to take our kayak out straight from the site and our dogs loved it. Firewood is easy to come across or you can buy it there. Cannot recommend enough. The only thing I would say is that the only shop nearby is a basic farm shop which is lovely but pretty expensive, so it's best to get everything beforehand.

Lovely spot right by the water, lots of space and dog friendly!! The people who run it were lovely too. Basic facilities with just a portaloo and a tap, would be great to have a sink to wash hands and brush teeth in too.

I stayed at Social District campsite with a group of friends. On arrival Tom and Abi we're very helpful and friendly. The site itself is large and located right next to the lake, which is great if you are looking at paddle boarding etc. If we had any queries regarding the surrounding area or whether we just needed firewood, Tom and Abi we're more than happy to help and nothing seemed too much for them. The only downfall of the site is the toilet facilities (portaloo's only) and that there are no showers. The toilets were cleaned but due to the amount of people on the site they could get messy quite quickly. Overall for the price and location we would all book and stay again as we had a great weekend staying here. Thanks so much for accommodating us all ☺️
