Simple, unspoilt and in an untouched location - Cockingford Farm has all you need for a back-to-basics trip. It's set in the Dartmoor National Park and a favourite with Duke of Edinburgh or Scout groups on expedition. A river meanders along the bottom of the site, where kiddies can paddle and play, plus there are friendly animals to meet on this working farm. Dog friendly.

About the site

The campsite sits on the edge of a rural village, just 1.5 miles from its shops, cafes and amenities. The farm is home to pigs (and sometimes piglets!) and sells the freshest of local meat and veg. Forget about marked out pitches, this is a place where you can turn up and choose your spot in a grassy field without electric. The team here like to keep things simple and so there's no need to book - unless you're bringing a Duke of Edinburgh group. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Open from 15 March to 15 November
