Scotts Farm Camping Site, Chichester, West Sussex

Located in West Wittering on the south coast of England, Scotts Farm Camping Site is a family friendly camping and touring site with a range of standard and electric grass pitches and a large sandy play area on-site. Being just a ten minute walk from the beach and local shops makes the site an ideal location for a trip to the seaside without needing to bring the car!

About the site

There's plenty of space onsite, with a choice of electric and standard grass pitches spread over 40 acres. Very pet friendly, with a large dog walking field on-site where dogs can be let off for a run surrounded by picturesque fields and farmland, there is also a free-to-use dog shower with warm water for after the beach or fields. A large sandy play area full of swings and climbing frames is available for the children, along with plenty of space around the site to cycle and play, free Wifi is also available site-wide. We have hire bikes available for the slightly longer excursions, payable by the hour or per day. It is only a 10 minute walk to the beach and to the local village shops, where you will find waterspouts shops and hire, restaurants, cafes, small supermarkets and lots of local boutique shops to explore in the sunshine. We do not take any advance bookings, you just turn up and pay on the day as we are a large site and almost always have lots of availability, however you are more than welcome to give us a ring or send us an email to enquire about expected availability for certain dates, we are always happy to advise.

Site facilities include toilet and shower blocks with disabled access and wash rooms for washing up dishes etc. Token operated laundry facilities also onsite. There is also a large sandy play area for younger children and free WiFi all over the site. Dog shower, beach trolleys, airbed pump and phone charging lockers are all free to use.

It is just a ten minute walk to the local supermarkets, shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs, and beach.

Site rules and policies

We do not take any bookings, we operate on a first come first served basis due to the large size of our site and how rarely we become full.

Being a family friendly campsite, any large groups or groups of mostly just adults are not accepted; we cater for families with young children.

Dogs are more than welcome on site, but must be kept on the lead around the camping fields. There is a dog walking field where they can be let off of the lead for a run.

We do not allow gazebos on site.

Any barbecues and fire pits must be kept elevated so they do not burn the grass.

A note from the site themselves...

Scotts Farm was originally a working dairy farm, being transformed into a campsite boy the then-owner, Mr Scott, in 1956. It has remained a prime destination in the Witterings ever since, with the prime focus always being to provide the best family friendly camping experience possible. Our hard work is rewarded by being able to be a part of each family's holiday, from being the first camping experience for a young family, to seeing the children grow up and bring their own family camping to relive the fond memories of roasting marshmallows by the campfire and sleeping under the stars. We believe it is important to be able to connect with nature and enjoy the simpler things life has to offer, whilst making unforgettable memories and forming traditions.

Things to do on site and in the Chichester area

The local beaches provide countless opportunities for all manner of watersports including kite-surfing, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking - equipment hire available from East Wittering village or West Wittering Beach.

The area is host to many scenic walks and cycle routes, including the wonderful Salterns Way, which takes you through the quaint harbour of Itchenor all the way up to the canal towpath and Chichester yacht basin.

The local village of East Wittering include two supermarkets and a wide variety of small independent shops and cafes along the high street leading down to the beach. West Wittering's famous sandy stretch up to East Head's sand dunes is popular year round, with a beach cafe and nearby crabbing pool an essential visit in the area. Medmerry RSPB reserve also provides lots of scenic walks and cycle routes through the tidal marshland, perfect for a family excursion.

The historic cathedral city of Chichester is just eight miles away and is easily accessible via bus or car. The cathedral and spectacular Bishop's Palace Gardens are open to visitors all year round, with a market being held twice a week. There are countless shops and cafes along Chichester high street, with its large pedestrian precinct.
