About the site


The site is set on the edge of Fineshade Wood, an ancient woodland in Northamptonshire, just 15 minutes from Stamford, Rutland Water and Corby. This site is ideal for outdoor adventures, with a range of walking and cycling routes on your doorstep, including the Room on the Broom trail! The campsite offers a back-to-nature escape with a range of grass and hardstanding pitches for tents, tentboxes, campervans, caravans, motorhomes, cyclists and bikers. These include non electric, electric and fully serviced options, ranging from 6m x 5m to 9m x 9m. Please note, there are no shower facilities available onsite, however, there are toilet facilities accessible via a key code 24/7. Tucked between Stamford and Corby on the A43 (both within a 15 minute drive), you will be within easy reach of local shops and eateries. Onsite there is also the Grounds Cafe (open daily) with seasonal opening hours serving a selection of hot sandwiches, tea, coffee and homemade cakes and gelatos. You can also head to the cycle hire centre and rent a bike for exploring during your stay. To keep the little ones busy, there are five play parks to enjoy, including climbing frames, den building, table tennis, sensory features and a treehouse! Dogs are welcome to join you, with up to three pups permitted per pitch. There are even two handy dog washes for muddy paws at either end of the site. Open fires are not permitted. Only gas BBQs are allowed, but they must be raised off the ground.

Please note that there are no showers available at this site. There are family and accessible toilets a short walk away in the courtyard that are available 24/7 via a key code. The site is not well lit, so guests will need to bring torches to access the toilets.

Located in Fineshade Wood, there are five children's play areas and a range of walking and cycling trails to explore. Bike hire and a repair shop are also available (open 4-5 days per week). There are two handy dog washes for muddy paws, too.

There is a cafe onsite called Grounds Cafe and Roastery serving light bites, homemade cakes and gelatos, along with hot drinks. Open February to October, Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday to Sunday, from 9am to 5pm. November to January, Monday to Friday 9:30am to 4pm and Saturday to Sunday from 9am to 4:30pm. The cafe is dog friendly and even serves dog ice cream and biscuits.

The closest shop to this is a Londis, a ten minute drive away. The Royal Oak is the closest pub to the site, a five minute drive away, serving food and drink Tuesday to Sunday.

Fineshade Wood Campsite allows up to nine units to be booked together. Any larger bookings will need to speak with the site first. A security bond of £50 per pitch for groups of three units or more may be requested upon arrival.

A note from the site themselves...

This woodland, with its mix of ancient trees, was once part of Rockingham Forest. A royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror, who claimed it as his own after the Norman Conquest of 1066. For centuries, kings and nobles rode through these trees. Today, the woodland welcomes everyone.

Rutland Water Country Park is a 15 minute drive from the site, where you can take part in water sports and explore the nature reserve, cycling routes and walking trails. Just ten minutes further is Aqua Park Rutland, an inflatable water games company!

Corby is just 20 minutes from the site, where you can visit the local shops, cafes, restaurants and finish the day with a trip around the Corby Central Park and Boating Lake.
