About the site

Set amongst the rolling hills of the South Downs, the site is centred around food, family and enjoying the outdoors. This is the camping that summers are made of, with glorious views, wonderful walking routes, campfires and delicious meals on offer. Bring your tent and pitch up anywhere you like on the field, regardless of the tent size! This site keeps things relaxed and easy. There are 21 non electric tent pitches in total, with five pitches allowing up to six guests. If hammering in tent pegs doesn't suit, you can enjoy a blissfully hassle-free holiday under canvas. The site offers stylish pre-pitched tents with beds provided inside and cosy bedroom lighting. It's all the fun of camping without bringing a car boot packed with equipment. The water used for everything on the campsite comes from pure natural spring water from deep underground, while the facilities are designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible. This campsite is all about living lightly on the land, enjoying the surrounding environment while making as little impact as possible. Don't forget the delicious food, either. The heart of the campsite is the camp kitchen, where most days you'll find a feast being cooked over the fire. Expect hearty home cooking, with the chance to dine with family, friends or fellow campers around communal trestle tables. Dogs are welcome to join you in your own camping tent, but unfortunately cannot stay in the pre-erected tents.

The site is open for weekends from April to the end of September throughout the week during the summer school holidays. Pitches from £44/night for 2 people.

Ready Tent - Pre-Erected TentsApr 2025

We had a great time, thank you! The food really is superb. High-end restaurant quality, or even better. Good wine too. The site is peaceful and spacious and the facilities are very good. It's a good spot for young children, who can explore and run around within an enclosed space safely and without ever going far out of sight.

Great trip!

A note from the site themselves...

We set up Woodfire in 2018 because we love camping, cooking and being outside. We've both camped all our lives, and we know that, done right, it's the most luxurious holiday you can have.

Inspired by the Italian agriturismos that we have stayed at ourselves, we wanted to create a great site with fabulous facilities and a generous welcome with Woodfire touches to make the perfect stay.

We cook locally sourced and delicious food for guests to eat alfresco with friends. Our reputation has grown over the years, and we are honoured to have received rave reviews from The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, BBC Good Food and Time Out.

We're passionate about the environment, living lightly on the sites that we occupy, and we're proud recipients of a Gold Award from the rigorous Green Tourism Sustainability Certification Scheme in association with the South Downs National Park Authority, where we have worked to create action plans around three goals: people, place and planet.

Woodfire Camping is all about a conviction that life is better outdoors. It's growing in ways we couldn't have imagined - a testament that others feel the same way. We love nothing more than meeting the huge variety of people who come to Woodfire and are always open to new suggestions and collaborations, Stella and Griff
