1st time out in Motorhome for a quick weekend tour. This campsite was fantastic. Beautiful setting good facilities and very quiet although many people on site. Would stay again by the lovely Loch Tay.

We loved our stay here and will definitely return for longer. A perfect base with good facilities, especially for the price.
First time in a motor home - first site we visited

Our first impression wasn't great as the postcode supplied takes you to a lane that's nothing to do with the site. As a first time motorhome driver, it was not ideal trying to reverse back to where we came from. When I mentioned this at reception, the lady just laughed but I feel this needs to be addressed. We were then given pitch 6 or 7, as nobody was in either. When we got there, people were in both pitches. Had to phone reception and just find another pitch, so again, trying to manoeuvre a 7.5 foot long vehicle out of tight spaces was not ideal. Directions to the boathouse are non existent if you're on foot, we spoke to another couple when we got there who ended up lost in a wood trying to find it. No paths for walkers, just roads for cars. Toilet facilities were ok. Shower was unmanageable as too powerful and water went everywhere so had a cold shower. Caravan next to us was broken as its wheels underneath were broken so not nice to look at. Don't think we will be back.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear your experience was not as expected, I will try to address the points as you have raised them. If your Satnav is older or not updated and therefore is not reliable as a form of navigation we address this by giving written directions on our website. Due to our mountainous location, Satnav cannot always be relied upon so it is recommended that guests are aware of our whereabouts from a map. We do allocate electric pitches so I am not sure why you found them occupied unless other customers were confused at to the pitch they were allocated. I agree this was an inconvenience and we will have a look at ensuring allocated pitches are emphasised to guests, please accept my apologies for this. There are no dedicated footpaths or walkways around the park at Loch Tay which lead to the restaurant. However, there is signage at various points along the main drive directing customers to its location. We will check out the issue you have reported regarding the shower and you will be pleased to know the broken caravan has now been removed - it was only there temporarily while we awaited assistance to move it. I do hope you will reconsider returning to stay with us in the future now you know where we are :)

Campsite located in a great area for access to Loch Tay, Killin, Kenmore and Aberfeldy areas. The weather was fantastic, allowing great views. Only down side was the the ablutions which we felt are tired (in need of a make over) and the numerous resident mosquitos, midges (meanbh-chuileag) and other insects that seem to have a permanent residency in the ablutions.

Great location with direct access to the Loch. Nice to have a pub and restaurant on site (but we didn't try it). Bit inconvenient having to drive between two sites to check in, but not a big drama. Facilities let the place down - small facilities, showers were lovely and hot but spray outside the cubicle, making the shower curtains sodden and the floors wet and muddy.

This was a stunning location: a short walk to Loch Tay on the south and with the Ben Lawers Range to the north. It was a nicely laid out spacious site with good flat pitches. There was a lot of rain, so drainage worked well! The nearby 'toilet block' was a bit cramped and basic, with only one urinal and one toilet, and two sinks in the men's section. It might have been problematic were more people there. The one hand dryer was old and weak. There were higher level cobwebs, so didn't suggest the cleaning was too thorough - although provided a trap for the midges! A nice touch was that washing up liquid and sponges were supplied in the dish washing area.

Lovely pods, great facilities in the pods and well-managed site. Some ideas - different recycling bins for paper, cans, bottles etc.

Tent with electric hook up

First time camping at Cruachan Farm, and I felt that there were a few issues with the site. As the grass area for tents is on a hill, everyone is very close together on the flattest part of the field. Facilities are in need of upgrading as the shower cubicles are very small, they are clean but need to be checked more often when site is busy. The kitchen and laundry facilities are very small. There are more facilities at the top area for caravans and tourers but I feel they also need upgrading.
Site's response
Hi Sarah, Thank you for your review. We have just taken over Cruachan Farm and there are some refurbishments to take place. We do appreciate your feedback.

I enjoyed my stay at Cruachan Farm. The site was nice and peaceful and I had an ideal spot with the electric hook-up. The pitches were of a good size and not too close to one another. The Boathouse Kitchen and bar was ideal - great covered outdoor space that I could sit with my dog whilst it was raining. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The toilet/ shower facilities would benefit from a bit of a refurbishment. I would definitely come back and would also recommend to friends.

Amazing site, quiet, scenic. Stayed in a pod, which was lovely. Fabulous, much bigger than it looks from the outside. Had our own BBQ and sat out till 10pm enjoying the summer night. Toilet block clean, good amenities. Great location for visiting Killin, which is gorgeous. Will be back.

Beautiful location but close to a busy road

Site is in a beautiful location but it's close to a busy road which was noisy, especially on Saturday morning when the bikers were out. Situated on a hillside, it is on different levels, the upper level where I was parked is within an area of old style static caravans, not the most attractive. The lower level, closer to the Loch is much prettier. The facilities are clean but basic, and the water pressure is incredible! Beware, the taps in the hand basins will soak you and the shower feels like you've been pressure washed! On the plus side, the water is very hot and unrestricted. I am currently not very active due to physical limitations so would not choose to stay here again, probably best as a base for surrounding outdoor sports and activities.

Toilet blocks dated but showers are very powerful and hot. Shame that there's shower curtains and the space isn't particularly big for the slightly bigger person. Taps seem to be insanely powerful, so washing hands soaks you, all taps seem to leak. Pitches on the tent field were not flat but our friends who had campervan had a brilliant touring space. The scenery was beautiful and overall, a quiet site. One night was silent, but the second night, there were a few issues with noise and someone arrived after midnight and was talking on the road by our tent. Lovely walk to Loch Tay. Beautiful drive to the National Park not so far away. Overall, it was a nice park and we would stay again.

The location of the site was excellent. We were able to take our dog on loads of walks as well as site-seeing in Killin, Aberfeldy and Oban. The Café on site was excellent, clean and friendly - but could have been open longer and for more days.
Site's response
Hi Elizabeth, thankyou for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and the facilities. The café has recently been opened so we are trialling opening hours and days at the moment but will pass your comments on. Hope to see you again.

Outlook from pitch was not very promising as facing old static caravans that looked un-cared for. No recycling facilities other than glass. Although newly acquired and some refurbishments were evident, there is still a little way to go (recycling, entry doors to facilities, on-site reception).
Site's response
Thank you for your review Ian. The park is new to us and are looking at ways to upgrade. Hope to see you again.

The pitch was quiet and extremely well kept. The EHU points were some distance from the van so you need a minimum of 10m - 15m lead. Hot water was slow to come through but showers were constant when you finally got the temperature right - no hitting a button every 10 seconds.

Only gripe was access from the campsite to the main site was a very muddy track. Other than that, A1 all round for what we wanted. Great food and service at the bar and restaurant.

Thank you for your review, Cameron. I am glad you enjoyed the site and all the facilities we have. The track can get a bit muddy if we have bad weather. Hope to see you again!

Booked 2 nights but stayed only one night as it was just rough field, with terrible showers that had more water on outside floor that in tray. Had to walk through some mud on dirt trail all the way down to the boathouse for food. Sorry, but wouldn't come back. Disappointed.
Site's response
Hi Eddie, thank you for your review. I am sorry you were disappointed with the site. I will pass your comments onto our maintenance team regarding the showers.

We loved Cruachan Farm Caravan and Camping Park. It's a nice size, the pitches are well spaced and it was lovely and quiet. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. The shower/WC block was kept really clean. A ten minute walk through the adjacent Loch Tay Highland Lodges takes you to the banks of Loch Tay where you can swim and paddle-board, and there's a really nice bar restaurant which is very dog-friendly. We'll definitely be back.
